Addressing the growing speculation, RJ Balaji recently released a video clarifying several rumours surrounding the film’s release. He confirmed that ‘Karuppu’ will not be released on April 10 as widely reported. The director also dismissed claims that he had a disagreement with the producer over the release date, saying such stories are simply baseless rumours.
RJ Balaji thanks fans, acknowledges their long wait
In a social media video, RJ Balaji began by thanking fans for the love and support they continue to show him. He shared that he had returned to cricket commentary after nearly two years and was overwhelmed by the warm reception he received. He also said many people have been asking about ‘Karuppu’ both on social media and in person. “I know Suriya sir’s fans have been waiting for a long time and may feel a bit disappointed,” he said, adding that he completely understands their expectations.
Two years of work behind the film
The filmmaker explained that he has been working on ‘Karuppu’ for nearly two years. From the initial stages of production to shooting schedules and post-production work, the team has spent a lot of time shaping the film carefully. Because of this demanding schedule, RJ Balaji had stepped away from cricket commentary for some time. However, he recently returned to the commentary box during the T20 World Cup and travelled back to Chennai after completing his work during the final match.
