'Love and War': Multiple reshoots drive up budget of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal starrer

In a bold move, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic film ‘Love and War’, featuring the stellar trio of Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Alia Bhatt, has hit another snag. As the producers prioritize artistic integrity, vital sequences are undergoing extensive reshoots, which not only stretches the budget but also leaves the premiere date in limbo. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Love and War’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Alia Bhatt, has been getting delayed for several reasons. The movie was expected to hit theaters in August this year but might get pushed further.

Here’s why Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’ is delayed

According to the IANS report, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial repeatedly got delayed as crucial scenes from the movie are being reshot. This has led to an increase in its budget as well. The report stated that as SLB wants to keep everything perfect in every frame of his movie, he is shooting a few of the important scenes yet again.It is further believed that all the rework has led to an indefinite delay in the release of the movie.

Earlier, during an Instagram Live, Ranbir Kapoor had shared that the movie buffs might have to wait a little longer to witness Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial. The actor stated that the film, which was initially expected to reach the cinema halls by August 2026, is now likely to be out either later this year or even in 2027.Explaining the reason for the delay, Ranbir shared that grand projects such as ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Love & War’ take a little longer to finish due to their ambitious scale and vision. He expressed that the wait will be worthwhile. Well, it remains to be seen when the makers lock in on the final release date for ‘Love & War’. The movie is reportedly believed to be inspired by the 1964 film ‘Sangam’, starring Ranbir’s grandfather, Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala, and Rajendra Kumar.

Apart from ‘Love and War’, Ranbir Kapoor has Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ lined up for release in Diwali this year. He will also feature in ‘Animal Park’, a sequel to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’.
