'Subedaar' review: Shah Rukh Khan says he always expects Anil Kapoor to ‘give it his all’

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan lauded Anil Kapoor’s powerful performance in the recently released OTT film ‘Subedaar’. Khan praised Kapoor’s dedication and the entire cast’s unique character portrayals, calling the film a great effort. ‘Subedaar’, which follows a retired officer’s struggle with civilian life and past issues, is now streaming on Prime Video.

Taking to his social media account on March 7, King Khan talked about Kapoor’s performance in ‘Subedaar’, calling it amazing and citing that he can always expect the veteran star to “give it his all” in his every project. He further praised the rest of the cast members of the film, writing, “#AdityaRawal, #SaurabhShukla, #MonaSingh, #FaisalMalik, #RadhikaMadan – each character was crafted uniquely and all of u put on such a great performance. Well done #SureshTriveni and the entire team… lots of love.”While talking about Kapoor’s performance, he also wrote that the actor gave “a restrained yet effective performance. His dedication to the craft is inspiring, and the action was so good!!!”

As per the latest reports shared by India Today, the film was initially planned with a big screen release in mind. The makers of the film had started off the project well-planned to attempt to make it into the perfect blockbuster hit for the big screen. It was reported that a lot of changes were made to the film’s original idea. At the end of the day, the film came out to be different than what was initially planned for it. This prompted the creators of the film to opt for a direct to digital release instead of the big screen structure.

Premise of ‘Subedaar’

Starring Anil Kapoor in the lead role, ‘Subedaar’ is set around the life of a retired officer named Subedaar Arjun Maurya. The story follows him on as he tries to settle back into civilian life, all the while trying to mend the bond that he had lost with his estranged daughter. Not all is possible, however, as problems from the past come back and he is forced to combat local corruption, societal issues, and many other things.
