Veteran Punjabi actor Jaswinder Bhalla passed away at the age of 65 at the early hours of Friday, after experiencing an unfortunate brain stroke on August 20, and could not recover. The funeral procession occurred near Mohali on Saturday, where numerous well-wishers joined in to bid goodbye to the late comedian.

On August 23, the deceased actor was brought in a garland-decorated bus to the cremation ground from his residence by his family. Many renowned politicians, prominent actors from the Punjabi film industry, and fans paid their respects to the legendary actor. Gippy Grewal, Neeru Bajwa, and Jimmy Shergill, along with singers Madan Shonki, Mankrit Aulakh, and Jasbir Jassi, attended the funeral. When Bhalla’s son, Pukhraj, kindled the pyre, attendees got emotional during the vulnerable time. Meanwhile, the police created strict arrangements to manage the gathering at the ground, according to Dainik Bhaskar. “Everyone should stand with the bereaved family in this difficult time. He was the pride of our industry. His presence alone made films superhit,” Mankrit Aulakh said outside of the cremation ground while speaking to the media, according to ANI. “It is a huge loss for the Punjabi industry,” Jasbir Jassi expressed.

The legendary actor took his last breath at the Fortis Hospital, Mohali, after battling illness for the last couple of months. Not only did Bhalla leave an indelible mark on the Punjabi film industry, but he was also honoured internationally for his prominence. His iconic films include ‘Carry On Jatta,’ ‘Jatt & Juliet’ franchise, ‘Mel Karade Rabba,’ ‘Shinda Shinda No Papa,’ and many more. Meanwhile, Bhalla’s stage show ‘Naughty Baba in Town’ was hailed internationally, where he performed in Canada and Australia. Jaswinder Bhalla is survived by his wife, Parmdeep Bhalla, and their two children: son Pukhraj Bhalla and daughter Ashpreet Kaur.
