Police suspected that Singh was driving the stolen truck. Singh failed to stop the truck and struck a police cruiser, causing extensive damage. There were no injuries. The stolen truck continued until it became inoperabl,e and then Singh attempted to flee on foot. There was a foot chase, following which Singh was arrested. After police found that Singh was a Canada-wide suspended driver, he was additionally charged with eight counts of operating while prohibited. Singh was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. The incident took place as Indian-origin truck drivers are on the radar in both US and Canada as several fatal road accidents in both US and Canada involved Indian-origin truck drivers. An intense crackdown has begun to penalize the cartels giving driving licenses to illegal migrants.
