Yet another blue drum case has shocked the nation. This time, the gruesome murder took place in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district. On August 17, the police discovered the decomposed body of a 35-year-old man, identified as Hansram alias Suraj, stuffed inside a blue drum on the rooftop of a house with a throat injury inflicted by a sharp weapon. He was originally from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh and was living in Kishangarh Bas with his wife and three children in a rented room.

While investigations revealed that Hansram’s wife, Sunita, allegedly killed him, his eight-year-old son has now emerged as the key witness to this case. He described to the authorities what all went down on that fateful day, revealing what happened at his home before and after his father’s murder.

The Man Was Killed By His Wife’s Lover

“My father, mother and uncle (their landlord’s son) were drinking together. My mother only had a couple of pegs, but the uncle who killed my father drank a lot. And so did my father,” victim Hansram’s eldest son, Harshal, told NDTV. He added, “After which he started beating my mother. My uncle tried to intervene, but my father said, ‘If you save her, I will kill you also.’”

“Then uncle attacked my father,” he mentioned, revealing that then his mother, Sunita, asked him to go to sleep. Later, he found his father on the bed, thinking he was asleep, the boy also went back to sleep. But when he woke up again, he found his mother and her lover, whom he called “uncle”. “They got scared because the landlord started asking for my father and threatened to go to the police, that’s why uncle took us to a brick kiln. But the brick kiln owner called the police, who took us away,” he mentioned.

The Man Was Put Inside The Drum By His Wife And Her Lover

The boy further revealed that the two emptied the drum, which was once used for storing water, to stuff Hansram’s body inside. “They threw the water and put papa’s body in the drum and placed it in the kitchen. I asked them why they were doing this, then they said papa has died,” he said. The police revealed that when Hansram got too drunk, he was smothered by a pillow by the accused.

The Man Used To Physically Abuse His Wife

While talking to the above-mentioned outlet, the eight-year-old boy also revealed that his father often physically abused his mother and claimed that he even tried to cut his throat. “He used to beat my mother frequently. He used to burn her with a beedi (cigarette). He also used to beat me. In fact, on August 15, he attacked my neck with a blade,” he told.

The police shared that the murder happened on August 15. Two days later, his body was discovered stuffed inside the blue drum on the first floor of the rented house when the landlady, an elderly woman, noticed a foul smell coming from it. Sunita and her lover Jitendra Sharma, who is also the son of the landlady, reportedly tried to conceal the crime by filling the drum with salt to melt the corpse.

The Man’s Wife And Her Lover Were Arrested From A Brick Kiln

After killing Hansram, who used to work in a brick kiln in Alwar, his wife fled along with her lover and her three children: Harshal, Nandini and Golu. Following a tip-off, the police arrested the two from a brick kiln, which was 50 kilometres away from the crime scene. Initial probe revealed that Sunita, who had come to live in Rajasthan with her family a few months back, was in a relationship with Jitendra. The latter was also once married, but his wife died about 12 years ago.

The victim got to know about their relationship and used to fight with Sunita regularly. Upset by that, she decided to end things once and for all, along with Jitendra. Hansram’s son also shared that Jitendra used to “help” the family, which also led to fights between his parents. “I was admitted to school by him. My father got angry that my uncle had got my admission done, and he started beating my mother. Then, uncle came to save my mother,” he said. The three children will now be handed over to their paternal grandparents.
