Several major developments unfolded across the country today, ranging from extreme weather to crime and enforcement action. Heavy snowfall has transformed parts of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir, with vast areas covered under thick white sheets of snow. Visuals from Ladakh’s Duraz sector and Gulmarg show vehicles and homes buried under several inches of snow. The Meteorological Department has warned of more snowfall in the next 24 hours, even as Gulmarg continues to attract tourists for skiing and snowboarding, boosting local tourism prospects. Meanwhile in Mumbai, actress Nora Fatehi was injured after her car was hit by a drunk driver late at night near the Amboli Link Road. Police said the accused driver, identified as Vinay, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Nora Fatehi sustained minor injuries and was taken for medical treatment. The accused has been arrested. In Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, students staged protests at the Collectorate alleging misconduct by a school teacher. Following intervention by district officials, including the SDM and SDPO, the students were assured of action, after which the protest subsided. Separately, betting app promoter Anurag Dwivedi responded to the Enforcement Directorate’s action, claiming his assets and earnings were legal and fully taxed. In another incident, a massive highway accident involving a tanker and a container led to a fire and traffic chaos, causing a long jam on a national highway.
