Breaking Update: Pakistan Races To Convince Iran As Key Calls Made Ahead Of Crucial Peace Talks

Pakistan has intensified diplomatic efforts to salvage the upcoming peace talks as Iran maintains a firm stance ahead of the proposed negotiations with the United States. In a series of high-level engagements within 24 hours, Pakistani leadership has reached out to top Iranian officials in an attempt to ease tensions and bring Tehran back to the negotiating table. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a crucial phone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. During the call, Araghchi reportedly expressed deep mistrust toward the United States, stating that Washington has repeatedly broken commitments in the past. This remark underscores Iran’s reluctance to proceed with dialogue under current circumstances. Simultaneously, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also engaged directly with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian. The two leaders held an extensive 45-minute phone conversation, focusing on regional stability and the urgent need to sustain diplomatic channels. Pakistan is positioning itself as a key mediator, striving to prevent further escalation and ensure that dialogue remains possible. These back-to-back interactions highlight Islamabad’s proactive role amid growing uncertainty over the second round of talks. With Iran still hesitant and trust deficits deepening, Pakistan faces a significant diplomatic challenge. As the ceasefire deadline approaches, the success of these efforts could prove critical in determining whether negotiations move forward or tensions in the region intensify once again.
