India vs England LIVE Score Updates, 3rd Test Day 1: India In Big Trouble As Rishabh Pant Leaves Ground While Struggling In Pain | Cricket News
India vs England Live Updates, 3rd Test Day 1: As the Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj toil hard for wickets, former captain Ravi Shastri shared a piece of advice for the bowlers. "Keep control, don't let England get easy boundaries," he said. Joe Root and Ollie Pope have kept two-down England going in the ongoing third Test at Lord's, London. In the first sessoin, Nitish Reddy struck twice in one over to dismiss both the England openers Ben Duckett and Joe Root. (Live Scorecard)
Rishabh Pant, who is keeping the wickets for India, was struggling in pain after the finger tip of his left hand copped a blow. His fingers were taped and the player also received a spray for it, but all in vain as Pant continued only for that over before being replaced with substitute Dhruv Jurel for the work.
The players are having a drinks break here. This is a much-needed time for Team India as things are not going their way. They have been bowling really well but have failed to get a breakthrough. Joe Root is unbeaten on 25 while Ollie Pope is 18 not out.
Jasprit Bumrah goes for a yorker to Ollie Pope after bowling five dot balls to the batter. Pope digs it out on the leg side and the England batters steal a single with it. This is the Three Lions' first run after 29 balls.
This is a second consecutive maiden over from Mohammed Siraj and India's third on trot as Jasprit Bumrah also bowled in between the overs of Siraj. The ball left the outside edge of Joe Root multiple times in this 31st over, but still no chance for India.
It is a maiden over from Mohammed Siraj. No wicket for India so far in the four overs post the Lunch but they have managed to keep England's scoring rate in check. As the Indian pacers continue to toil hard for wickets, former player Ravi Shastri said, "Keep control, don't let England get easy boundaries."
ENG 89/2 (29)
Not the first time in the game, Ollie Pope got an inside edge but he was lucky that the ball hit his foot after the inside edge and stopped well before the stumps. These are testing times for Indian pacers. They have been bowling bowling but the reward is eluding.
A fuller ball from Jasprit Bumrah on the pads of Ollie Pope and the batter flicks it away for an easy four towards square leg. The Indian pacers have been leaking runs with this line of bowling quite often in this innings.
ENG 87/2 (25.3)
Ollie Pope is on the strike, Jasprit Bumrah is ready with the ball. The second session of play on Day 1 begins. Bumrah bowled a fuller delivery with a hit of inswing in it. Pope drives it down the ground to the fielder.
The way Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, India's three frontline pacers, bowled in the first session, they all deserve a wicket at least. As fate would have it, all the three pacers have not managed to pick any wicket so far. India stay hopeful as the second session of play is set to begin now.
It is time for Lunch on the opening day of the third Test here. Nitish Reddy turned out to be the star performer for India in the session, having picked two wickets in just one over. In rest of the overs, India were simply unlucky. This was a shared session, considering the amount of help the bowlers got.
ENG 83/2 (25)
A fuller ball from Akash Deep on the pads of Joe Root and the batter flicked it away really fine for a four. There was a fielder towards the long-leg region. He did give a run but in vain as the ball raced to the boundary line. The action took place on the fourth ball of the over.
ENG 81/2 (23)
Jasprit Bumrah was brought into the attack and he troubled Joe Root in the over with his inswinging deliveries. Two balls shaped in sharply into Root but the batter got the inside edge of his bat on both the occasions.
A one-run over from Nitish Reddy before Akash Deep bowled a three-run over. Reddy has been troubling the England batters with his outswinging deliveries but India have been really unlucky on the field so far.
A fulelr ball from Mohammed Siraj on the pads of Joe Root and the batter has hit it away for a four through the mid-wicket. This is the second boundary in the over from the bat of Root. Meanwhile, the 50 is up for England!
This over has put India in command. Nitish Reddy is doing the magic with the ball in this game. It was an absolute peach from Reddy. The ball was pitched up and it shaped out with great swing. Crawley went to poke it and ended up giving a catch to Rishabh Pant. He is out for 18 off 43 balls.
good, @NKReddy07
He came on to bowl in just the 14th over and struck twice, sending #BenDuckett and #ZakCrawley back!

Nitish Reddy provided India the first breakthrough by picking up the wicket of Ben Duckett. It was a short ball down the leg side and Duckett found an edge to it. The ball was caught by Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. On the very next ball, Gill dropped a tough catch of Ollie Pope at gully.
Ben Duckett tapped the ball towards mid-off and tried to take a couple, but Zak Crawley slipped and fell abruptly while trying to come back for the second run. He was lucky that he didn't suffer any injury there. The batter stood up and laughed it off.
An swinging delivery from Jasprit Bumrah on the fourth ball of the over hit Zak Crawley on the foot but India decided not to review it. That nipped back in really sharp from Bumrah but it had height on it and the ball also seemed to be leaving the leg stump. Good decision from India to not review it.
ENG 36/0 (12)
This has turned out to be a good start for England. They have not lost a single wicket and scored 35 runs in the first 10 overs. Zak Crawley is playing his shots now, while Ben Duckett is also solid at the crease.
Zak Crawley smashed Akash Deep for three fours in the over. He played with the mind of the pacer. Crawley smashed Akash by coming down the track and the bowler fell to the trap as he shortened his length after that, making things easier for Crawley.
A maiden over from Akash Deep and then a maiden over from Jasprit Bumrah. The ball is swinging and both the Indian pacers have kept it tight to both Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. The ball has missed the outside edges of the batters multiple times, but no wicket yet.
Ben Duckett smashed Jasprit Bumrah for a four in the over. It was still a good over from Jasprit Bumrah as the pacer troubled the southpaw with the inswinging deliveries. India are unlucky to not get a wicket so far.
Pardon me for my words but Akash Deep looked much more lethal than Jasprit Bumrah in the over. If you doubt me ask Zak Crawley who was simply clueless. The ball was swinging and it got some brilliant carry off the surface. It seems both the Indian pacer have found the perfect length for this pitch with the new ball.
ENG 9/0 (4)
It seemed that Jasprit Bumrah found the perfect length to bowl on this surface, at least for now. He troubled Ben Duckett with his tight length and swing in the over. The ball missed the inside edge of Duckett twice as the batter was swinging his bat to the deliveries outside off-stump.
ENG 9/0 (3)
Here is the first boundary of the England innings. Akash Deep bowled it fuller onto the pads of Ben Duckett. The batter flicked it but got it too fine as the ball missed a diving Rishabh Pant and ran to the fence for a four. A dot ball follows. 6 runs came off the over.
ENG 8/0 (2)
It was a tight first over from Jasprit Bumrah. He got just a bit of swing in the over and almost got Ben Duckett out. The southpaw nicked the ball but it fell well short of the India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
ENG 2/0 (1)
Jasprit Bumrah begins with a short of length ball outside the off-stump. Zak Crawley lets it go. The play at England's Lord's has begun. Ben Duckett is at the other end.
Sachin Tendulkar rings the bell at Lord's, London. The players have lined up for their respective national anthems. They start with India's and then that of England will follow. We are only some minutes away from the start of play.

In a surprising turn of events, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first against India in the third Test. Interestingly, he opted to bowl in the first two Tests. This call even made India skipper Shubman Gill confused.
England (Playing XI): Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes(c), Jamie Smith(w), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir
India (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
"I was confused what to do till this morning. I would have bowled first. There would be something for the bowlers in the first session. Everyone chipped in and that's what the discussion was about. The bowlers are feeling confident, wasn't easy to pick 20 wickets on that (Edgbaston) wicket. I am feeling great, as a batter you expect to be in the middle of the situation and batting. We have one change - Bumrah for Prasidh."
"We are going to have a bat. Surface there is something here early on generally. It is good, well fought series and we are up for this game. The body is good. Quick turnaround, we are fresh and ready to go. Everyone likes playing at Lord's and you have to enjoy it. Just one change."
England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat against India in the third Test of the five-match series at Lord's, London.
"There is a bit of grass on it, but it has been cut down a little bit. They want a bit of pace and carry which is why they have left a bit of grass on it. Using the short ball will be key here. The slope is going to play a role, especially with the seamers," reckons Nasser Hussain.
WOAHH!!! As we were speaking about the grassy pitch at the Lord's, here's a new update from Cricbuzz. The grassy pitch has been shaved off on the eve of the third Test between India and England. Will this change play a big role in the game? Only time will tell.
The venue is the only ground with a 2.5 metre slope, which helps the bowlers generate more lateral movement than usual. Hence, scoring will be difficult on this track. As can be seen from the images that have surfaced on social media, there's still plenty of grass on the wicket, which is set to get the seamers licking their lips. Expect a lot of lateral movement early in the game.
India captain Shubman Gill, who already has 585 runs to his name in two matches, is staring at some of the biggest records in the format, held by none other than the OG Sir Donald Bradman. All eyes will be on Gill continue the hot form he has been in since the start of the series.
While the return of Jasprit Bumrah is certain, it isn't yet confirmed if India will make another change in the playing XI. The talks of Karun Nair to be replaced by B Sai Sudharsan have kept fans and experts buzzing. Also, it isn't yet confirmed if Bumrah will replace Prasidh Krishan or another player in the team.
Could Nitish Reddy or Washington Sundar be sacrificed on a pitch that is expected to offer more assistance to seamers?
Can India repeat the 2021 heroics that saw Virat Kohli's men secure a memorable triumph at Lord's? If India do win in England, Shubman Gill become only the 4th Indian captain to lead the team to a victory at the venue in Tests.
