India vs Australia Live Score, Champions Trophy 2025 Semi-Final: All or nothing for Rohit and IND as AUS hurdle awaits
IND vs AUS, Champions Trophy 2025 Semi Final: KL Rahul finished off a masterful chase by India with a six.
IND vs AUS, Champions Trophy 2025 Semi Final: KL Rahul finished off a chase that was masterminded with surgical precision by Virat Kohli. India have thus gone through to the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy by beating Australia, a side that has given them nightmares in big matches in recent years, by four wickets in Dubai. They face either New Zealand or South Africa in the final on Sunday....Read More
Hardik Pandya, or should we say Hardik 'clutch' Pandya earlier took India on the brink of a famous win by his barrage of sixes. He was dismissed for a 28 off 24 balls but not before he had done the job. Virat Kohli fells completely against the run of play. He picked up the wrong one from Adam Zampa, but failed to clear the man at long-on. The Aussies were cock-a-hoop. Indians not so much. Kohli walks away with a look on his face that every Indian fan can relate to at the moment. KL Rahul is disappointed, and he makes it a point to convey it to Kohli.
Rahul took up the aggressor's role, beginning to score at a strike-rate of near about 100, allowing Kohli to take his time and play accordingly at the other end. Kohli was well-set, and in the company of Rahul took India past the 200-run mark. India still have five wickets left in their kitty as we enter the final 10 overs of the match. For the first time in their chase, India's run-rate has escalated a bit, rising to 6 but nothing alarming given the batting they still have.
Rahul joined Kohli after Axar Patel missed a pull shot and heard the dreaded sound of timber to end what turned out to be a promising partnership of 44 runs. Shreyas Iyer, who was looking so good, and put on a partnership of 91 runs with Kohli, was undone by a ripper from Adam Zampa. He was clean bowled by the Aussie leg-spinner after Australia's Glenn Maxwell put Virat Kohli down. Kohli rose to the occasion to score a magnificent half-century.
Iyer and Kohli are motoring along nicely, keeping the required run-rate in check and getting the occasional boundary in between. Australia, and Cooper Connolly in particular, has made up for dropping Rohit Sharma, by dismissing the India captain for 28. Two wickets in two overs and Australia have doused India's fantastic start. Rohit missed a full ball and was given out LBW, the review not saving him. This happened shortly after Shubman Gill was cleaned up by Ben Dwarshuis.
Australia were bowled out for 264. At one stage, the reigning World Champions looked set for at least 280, if not more. But a brilliant comeback, led by Mohammed Shami's 3/48 and some able support by Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja, ensured India had less than 270 to chase to book themselves a place in the Champions Trophy final.
After Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bat, Australia were rocked early, with Shami dismissing Copper Connolly for a painful duck. Travis Head, India's nemesis, struggled the initial few overs but switched gears effectively shortly after to send fears into the hearts and minds of the Indian fans. Head raced to 39 before Chakaravarthy foxed him with a wrong one to give India a much-needed breakthrough.
Smith and Marnus Labuschagne then dug in, forging a watchful 56-run partnership. However, just when their alliance began to look threatening, Ravindra Jadeja struck Marnus on the pads, getting him out of LBW. The new man in, Josh Inglis, hung around for a while before lobbing a simple catch to Virat Kohli. Australia's hopes rested on the shoulders of their captain, Smith, who scored a dogged half-century but 27 short of a hundred, missed a full toss to be castled by Shami. One brought two as in the next over Glenn Maxwell smoked a six, only to be clean bowled the next ball by Axar. Carey kept Australia ticking with a cracking fifty of his own, but Shreyas Iyer produced a brilliant piece of fielding, nailing a direct hit from the deep to run him out.
IND vs AUS LIVE Score, Champions Trophy Semi Final: There have been just three editions of this tournament in which India didn't feature in the final. India are also the joint most succesful team with two titles. The other team on that number is Australia and so if India do win the final on Sunday, they will be the single most succesful team of all time in the Champions Trophy. But that's easier said than done. New Zealand and South Africa have both looked extremely good in this tournament. That should make for a cracking semi-final and it will come live from Lahore tomorrow, starting at 2.30pm IST. Do join us for the coverage of that game as well. It is goodnight for now from here!
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: No surprises there. It boiled down to being a battle of two virtuoso knock from the two GOATs on show today, Steve Smith and Virat Kohli. Smith scored 73 in 96, Kohli made 84 off 98. Both fell quite abruptly right when they were looking utterly invincible.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: The Aussie ghost is buried. Maxwell tosses up the first ball of the 49th over on off, Rahul charges down and sends the ball soaring over long-on for the match-winning six. He finishes unbeaten on 42 off 34, just the perfect No.6 innings from him. Ravindra Jadeja at the other end on two off one. This was as clinical a chase as it comes from India and it was anchored around the master of those situations. Just as Steve Smith earlier in the day, Virat Kohli was the glue that held the Indian chase together.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: This has to be among the crazier innings you would have ever seen in an ODI chase. Pandya absorbed a lot of dots but paradoxically brought India as close as they are now with some big hits. With India needing six to win, he tries to finish it off fifth ball of the 48th but gets caught at long-on.
Pandya c Maxwell b Ellis 28 (24)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: A lot of negativity was suddenly swirling around Pandya. He has been walking gingerly ever since Rahul sent him back off the second ball of the 47th, asked him not to run a second. A dot ball fourth ball and then Pandya smashes the sccrews off the fifth ball. Then he does the same with the next.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: How demoralising must that be for Sangha. Four dot balls to Pandya, that requirement went from a run a ball to 36 needed from 32. And then Pandya clobbers the fifth ball back over the bowler's head for a typically mammoth six. He then runs two off the last ball and thus, eight runs come in that over after all those dots. There really is a sense of inevitability about India today.
Pandya on 11 off 12, Rahul on 32 off 28.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Well Kohli seems quite relaxed in the dug out, explaining what he was trying to do to Shubman Gill. Just three runs came off the 44th over by Sangha. KL Rahul seems to have put the big shots in his pocket for now, He is on 32 off 28, Hardik Pandya on three off six.
India 229/5 in 44 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Rahul had just released pressure with some big hits but the Kohli tries to do the same out of nowhere and perishes. Is that the opening Australia were looking for? Zampa with a wrong'un outside off stump, Kohli picks it up, looking to clear long-on but he fails to do that.
Kohli c Dwarshuis b Zampa 84 (98)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Three singles and a two off the first four balls and then Rahul comes down the track and powers the fifth ball past mid-on for another four. He moves to 24 off 24, Kohli on 83 off 96.
India 217/4 in 42 overs, need 48 to win from 48
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Tanveer Sangha bowling the 41st over. Two singles off the first two balls and then Sangha overpitches the fourth ball slightly, Rahul smashes it over the bowler's head, long-off is there but he can't do much as the ball beats the fielder and goes to the boundary. He takes two off the last ball and moves to 17 in 20, Kohli on 81 off 94.
India 208/4 in 41 overs, need 57 to win from 54 balls.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Virat Kohli runs a single off the third ball of the 39th by Zampa and that was his 50th of this match. At the end of that over, he takes that to 51. What can you do if a player decides to stay as calm as this? Not much, is what Australia are saying at the moment. Kohli on 79 off 89 balls at the end of that over, Rahul on nine off 13.
India 198/4 in 39 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Steve Smith is doing everything he can to try and not allow the batters to settle here. Connolly returns for the 36th over this time. Problem for Australia is that Kohli has settled into such a calm rhythm that he is finding the gaps to milk runs regardless of who the bowler is. Rahul has done well to keep up the good work at the other end as well. He is on two off three at the end of the 36th over, Kohli on 71 off 81.
India 183/4 in 36 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Axar swings across the line and misses the ball entirely. Well, he may have been told to approach his innings in a certain way but the question has to be asked as to whether he needed to go for that shot at this stage.
Australia still have tons of work to do, though. The new man coming in is KL Rahul, who can very much play like Kohli all day long.
Axar Patel b Ellis 27 (30)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: If Australia thought that the dismissal of Iyer as an opening, well, what must they be thinking now.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Just the second six of the innings after Rohit Sharma hit one inside the first five overs. He ran two off the second ball of that over and then takes a big stride outside off for the fifth. Tonks him over deep square for a six. He moves to 16 off 19 at the end of that over, Kohli on 59 off 65 balls.
India 158/3 in 31 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: They are going at exactly five runs an over. Three singles in that over by Maxwell. Kohli has moved to 59 in 65 balls, Axar Patel on eight off 13. Axar has come in and tried a few big swings, wonder if he has been instructed by the team to try and get some big hits in these middle overs.
What is for sure is that India are cruising. They need 115 to win off 120 balls.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Iyer didn't pick that up at all and that is the end of the partnership. It produced 91 runs for India in 111 balls. Pitched on off and skids on, Iyer tries to go square through the off side. Doesn't get anything on it and the ball takes his stumps. He misses out on a half-century. Is that the opening Australia needed?
Iyer b Zampa 45 (62)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Rohit Sharma dropped twice and now Kohli dropped by the otherwise reliable Glenn Maxwell. What in the world has happened to Australia today? Kohli looks to work the last ball in the 26th over by Connolly leg side. It pops up in the air, Maxwell runs in from short cover and Connolly seemed to be going for it before pulling out last second. The ball doesn't stick into Maxwell's hands.
India 134/2 in 26 overs, need 131 to win from 24 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Oh we are seeing the genius at work here. Iyer takes a single off the first ball of the 25th in which Zampa has been brought back. Then Kohli runs two with a wonderful shot through covers. Two more singles after that and then Zampa sends in a drag-down, Kohli pulls it through square leg. He has got to his fifty in 53 balls.
He finishes on 50 off 54 balls at the end of that over, Iyer on 43 off 56.
India 131/2 in 25 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Iyer scooped two of the deliveries in that over by Maxwell, and even those were completely risk-free runs. It has been four overs since the last boundary but who cares about that. Five singles and a two off that 23rd over by Maxwell, Australia just not being able to stop these two from rotating strike at the moment. Iyer on 39 off 51, Kohli on 40 off 47.
India need 148 to win in 162 balls
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Smith throws the ball to Glenn Maxwell for the 21st over. Australia are caught in a real vortex here. Kohli and Iyer perfectly happy to knock the ball around and pick the singles and they are able to do it with ease at the moment.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: It is all quiet at the moment but don't let that fool you. Australia are right now caught slap bang in the middle of a typical Kohli ODI chase. India's run rate has stayed somewhere around 5, sometimes dipping below that and going above that, throughout the last nine overs. Their required rate is 5.54. Kohli has waltzed to 26 off 36, Iyer at the other end on 29 off 38.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Australia need multiple wickets here as quickly as possible. However, thus far they have hardly come close to getting even one. Now here comes the 23-year-old Tanveer Sangha, playing just his third ODI.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: That is probably the first time since the end of the powerplay that either of these two batters has looked even remotely in trouble. Last ball of the 15th over by Zampa, a wrong'un that Kohli doesn't read. He misses it entirely and the Aussies appeal. The umpire shakes his head and replays showed that the ball was missing leg stump. Kohli is on 18 off 28, it must be worrying for Australia just how assured he is looking out there. Iyer on 19 off 22.
India 75/2 in 15 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: India need a big partnership here and so they wouldn't mind Kohli and Iyer eating up a few deliveries. And well, they aren't really doing that. Both batters picking off singles with ease in the first three overs after powerplay, each of which have gone for three runs.
Kohli on 14 off 21 at the end of the 13th over, Iyer on 12 off 17.
India 64/2 in 13 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Australia's most experienced bowler, and Virat Kohli's nemesis in this side, is bowling the first over after the powerplay. Shreyas Iyer managed to get two boundaries off Connolly in that 10th over. He swung hard at the third ball; it took an outside edge and went past Smith in slips for four. Iyer defended the fourth ball and then Connolly sent in a stinker of a full toss that Iyer dispatched with disdain. Smashed it square for four runs.
Iyer on eight off seven at the end of that over, Kohli on nine off 13.
India 55/2 in 10 overs
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi Final: Ellis goes full and slightly outside the off stump last ball of the ninth over, Kohli plays a lofted drive straight down the ground for a four. Kohli has moved to nine off 13 balls, Shreyas Iyer at the other end on nought off one ball. The latter will now face Connolly in the 10th over.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Cooper Connolly has got a huge wicket in his very first over. Once again, India's openers are back in the hut in the first 10 overs. Rohit tries to sweep the fifth ball of the eighth over, big appeal for LBW and the umpire raises his finger immediately. Rohit has a longish chat with Kohli before taking the review. No bat on it and ball tracker confirms that the leg stump would've been disturbed.
Rohit lbw b Connolly 28 (29)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Oh well, Chris Gaffaney well done sir! Last ball of the sixth over by Ellis is sent on a length on middle stump. Rohit takes a couple of strides down the track and absolutely pulverises the ball straight back down the ground. Gaffaney had milliseconds to respond, he drops to the ground and the ball pierces the space his head occupied like a bullet before careening to the boundary behind him. He gets up, signals four with a relieved smile, and ends that action with his hand on his chest. Umpiring is not a job for the faint-hearted.
India 39/1 in 6 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Rohit was dropped twice but no such luck for Shubman Gill. Dwarshuis with a good length delivery last ball of the fifth over, Gill looks to steer it fine but it doesn't really bounce enough for that. Inside edge and stumps.
Gill b Dwarshuis 8 (11)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: This match is simmering nicely at the moment. Ellis with an absolute jaffa fourth ball of the fourth over to Rohit, it lands on off and tails away late. Rohit beaten. A couple of singles after that and Rohit is on 16 off as many, Gill on three off eight.
Dwarshuis continues in the next over, Gill on strike.
India 19/0 in 4 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: What are we seeing here? Australia are dropping catches. They are actually dropping catches. This time the ball was coming down over Labuschagne's shoulder at mid-off, he dives forward but can't hold on to it. The mind goes back to when Travis Head took a catch in similar circumstances off Rohit Sharma at extra cover in the 2023 World Cup final. That catch pretty much ended the little positive phase India had in that match.
India 17/0 in 3 overs
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi-Final: Australia's Cooper Connolly drops a low diving catch and the Indian captain Rohit Sharma gets a life in the second over of the game! Big moment of the game!
India 15/0 after 2 overs.
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi-Final: Nathan Ellis bowls a nothing delivery, dropping it short. Rohit Sharma rocks back and pulls the ball for the first maximum of India's innings.
India 13/0 in 1.2 overs.
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi-Final: In the very first over, Rohit Sharma is making his intentions clear! The Indian captain is not hesitant in going aerial. A good start in the powerplay is a must.
India 7/0 after 1 over.
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi-Final: Ben Dwarshius drifts to the pads of Rohit and the right-hander elegantly dispatches the ball for India's first boundary.
India 4/0 in 0.2 overs.
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi-Final: Left-arm seamer Ben Dwarshius opens the bowling for Australia. He gets the ball to move back in with a little shape!
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi-Final: Australia are in a team huddle, possibly discussing some plans to stop India.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill about to walk out in the middle. Let the run chase begin.
IND vs AUS Live Score, Champions Trophy Semi-Final: Heading into the semi-final, all the talk was about how Australian batters would fare against India's spin quartet of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja.
In 34 overs bowled by Indian spinners, Australia scored 176 runs, losing five wickets. Of these 34 overs, only two were maidens.
IND vs AUS LIVE Score, Champions Trophy Semi Final: If India chase down 265 against Australia, Rohit Sharma and co would create some history.
The highest target successfully chased down in an ICC ODI tournament knockout game against Australia is 261. This was done by India in the 2011 World Cup quarterfinal in Ahmedabad.
IND vs AUS LIVE Score, Champions Trophy Semi Final: Ravindra Jadeja, who took two wickets, said that the pitch is better than India's last match against New Zealand.
Speaking to the host broadcaster, Jadeja said, “The wicket is better than the last game, not much spin. We need to start well. If we play sensible cricket in the first 10 overs, then there won't be any issues. Smith and Labuschagne were batting nicely and I tried to attack the stumps. Luckily we were able to contain the runs and picked a few wickets as well.”
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Virat Kohli had gone past Mohammed Azharuddin as the Indian with most catches in ODIs earlier in the tournament. Today, he took his tally to 161 catches which has helped him go past Ricky Ponting and become the player with the second-most catches of all time in this format. Mahela Jayawardene tops that list with 218.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Hardik Pandya knocks Adam Zampa's off stump over and that is the end of the Australian innings. India need to chase a target of 265, which is a very competitive total indeed but it could've been much worse. They picked four wickets in the last 10 overs and conceded just about 55 runs in that period but the difference was probably made in the lead-up to that period. Steve Smith probably tried a biggie a tad bit too early and Glenn Maxwell, the less said about that shot, the better. Alex Carey, though, was quite sensational but he too would feel that he could've avoided being run out at that stage of the innings. Australia need to make sure that they get as many batters as possible in India's top five back in the hut as quickly as possible.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Ellis had hit the fifth ball of that over down the ground for a six. Then gets caught at long on going for the same shot. Shami walks away shaking his head, probably annoyed by that six. He finishes with figures of 3/48. And so Australia are down to their last wicket going into the final over of their innings.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Oh yes, that is quite brilliant from Shreyas Iyer. Carey pulls the first ball of the 48th which is being bowled by Hardik Pandya. Iyer seems to be a little slow to start his charge towards the ball before breaking into a full-blooded sprint when it becomes clear that the Aussies are going for the second. Picks the ball up and fires the ball onto the stumps at the striker's end from a good distance. He may have reduced the target by around 15-20 runs here.
Carey run out (Iyer) 61 (57)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: It's Dwarshuis, not Carey, but India won't really mind that too much. Australia are down to their last three wickets and they are yet to cross 250. Second ball of the 46th, Chakravarthy's last, is full outside off. Dwarshuis goes for the slog sweep but cannot get the desired distance on the shot. Caught at deep midwicket.
Dwarshuis c Iyer b Varun 19 (29)
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Chakravarthy has just one over left, Kuldeep has two and so do Axar and Jadeja. There are six ovrs left and so it really does look like we won't see Hardik Pandya with the ball any more. He has gone at an economy of over 8 in the four overs he bowled today. Shami will be bowling to Dwarshuis, who is on 16 off 23, Carey on 52 off 50.
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: What an innings this has been. Alex Carey has looked utterly unflappable today while scoring at a strike rate well over 100. He runs two off Kuldeep first ball of the 43rd then a single off the next to bring up the mark.
Australia 220/6 in 42.3 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Australia were going at over 6 an over when Smith was around. Now that has crashed down to 5.21. Carey is still out there, importantly for Australia. He is on 45 off 42, Ben Dwarshuis at the other end has scored just three runs in 13 balls but it's probably more important for him to just stay out there than score any meaningful runs.
Australia 214/6 in 41 overs
India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Alex Carey is looking unflappable at one end but it is uncertainty all the way through for Australia at the other. Carey reverse sweeps the third ball of the 40th from Axar and sends it past backward point for a four. Takes a single next ball and then Ben Dwarshuis keeps out the last two balls.
Alex Carey is on 44 off 40 balls, Dwarshuis on three off nine.
