Delhi Assembly Elections: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the BJP’s historic victory in the Delhi elections and took a sharp jibe at the outgoing government, saying that the results proved that the people of Delhi are no longer willing to accept corruption and political theatrics.

PM Modi arrived at the BJP headquarters to celebrate the party’s resounding victory in the Delhi polls after 27 years and address the party workers. He was joined by other senior party leaders, including Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and others.

“The results clearly show that the people of Delhi are no longer willing to accept corruption and political theatrics. They want genuine governance that delivers on promises and addresses their real issues," said PM Modi.

“People of Delhi are filled with enthusiasm today. They are also relieved because Delhi is now free of ‘AAP-da’. I had sent a letter to Delhiites in which I urged them to give BJP a chance to serve them in the 21st century and to make Delhi ‘viksit’ (developed) capital of India," he added.

He extended his gratitude to the people of Delhi for showing their trust in “Modi Ki Guarantee" and said, “The 10-decade ‘AAP-da’ has ended in Delhi. Delhi’s mandate is clear and this is a victory of development, vision and trust."

According to the latest data from the Election Commission, the BJP has achieved a resounding victory in the national capital, winning 48 seats. In contrast, the ruling AAP suffered a major setback, securing only 22 seats.

Meanwhile, the Congress failed to open its account in the Delhi polls. The Delhi Legislative Assembly comprises 70 seats, and political parties need to secure at least 36 seats to form a government.

PM Modi said that there’s no place for “shortcuts and lies in politics", adding that people of the national capital have made it clear in the recently concluded assembly elections.

“Today the people of Delhi have made it clear. This is also clear from the mandate of Delhi that there is no place for shortcuts, lies in politics. The people have ended the era of shortcut politics," he said.

PM Modi further expressed that BJP workers across the country had a “feeling of pain" in their hearts due to not being able to fully serve Delhi for 27 years.

“But today Delhi has accepted our request too. The youth born in the 21st century will now see BJP’s good governance in Delhi for the first time. Today’s results show how much trust the country has in BJP’s double-engine government," PM Modi remarked.

PM Modi said that the Delhi election results reflect the country’s trust in BJP’s double-engine government, highlighting the unprecedented records set in Haryana and Maharashtra before making history in the national capital.

PM Modi showed his gratitude to the voters of Purvanchal, who were at the centre of the key battle between the BJP and AAP during the Delhi election campaign.

“During this election, wherever I went, I used to say proudly that I am an MP from Purvanchal. The people of Purvanchal have given love to this bond. Therefore, as the MP from Purvanchal, I thank the people of Purvanchal," said PM Modi.

Celebrations were seen outside the BJP headquarters as supporters danced to the rhythm of ‘dhol’ and waved party flags, filling the air with a festive spirit. Holding cutouts of the lotus, the BJP’s election symbol, they smeared each other with saffron-colored powder.
