WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Will Arshdeep Singh Get A Look In?
The left-arm pacer has certainly been outstanding for the Indian team in the T20I format. With injuries in the fast-bowling department, it would not be a bad call to look at Arshdeep Singh for the side’s pace attack in the Champions Trophy 2025.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Bumrah's Road To Recovery
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the BCCI selectors are awaiting a report by the National Cricket Academy. Bumrah will reportedly be headed to the NCA and will require clearance from the medical team to participate in further competitions.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Can Nitish Reddy Makes His Mark In ODIs?
Nitish Reddy has certainly impressed many since his displays in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Now it remains to be seen of the young all-rounder could be given a chance in the 50-over format where he could be a decent back-up to Hardik Pandya.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Comeback On The Cards For Shreyas Iyer?
While the provisional squad hahas yet to be announced, it would come as no surprise if Shreyas Iyer makes his way back into the ODI setup. He had an outstanding performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup and, most recently, the Vijay Hazare Trophy,, where he smashed two hundreds for Mumbai. He could be the perfect fit for India in the middle-order, and his recent performances have made a strong case for a comeback.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Can Kohli Find His Best Form?
Questions have been asked about Virat Kohli and the lack of runs from his side. But it cannot be forgotten that in India’s last ICC 50-over tournament, Kohli shattered many records as he scored 765 runs from 11 games in the ODI World Cup.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Will India Give Jaiswal A Shot In ODIs?
Despite being one of India’s highest run-scorers in 2024, the young left-handed opener is yet to make his debut in the 50-over format. With the Champions Trophy 2025 coming up, Jaiswal could be given a chance to prove himself in the upcoming ODI series against England.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Can India Change The Squad After Announcing?
January 12 is the deadline set by the ICC for all teams to reveal their squads for the 2025 Champions Trophy. However, these squads will be only ‘provisional’. This means all teams can make changes to the team till February 13.
This would be particularly helpful to India because the team has some concerns with injuries. For example, despite Jasprit Bumrah’s injury, India can name him in the provisional squad and make a change till February 13 in case he doesn’t recover in time for the tournament.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Mohammed Shami Strengthens His Case
With reports rife about Shami’s possible participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy, the pacer shone brightly in the VHT pre-quarterfinal against Haryana on Thursday. He took three wickets for 61 runs in his 10 overs, scalping out opener Himanshu Rana and then two tailenders in the fag end of the innings.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Varun Chakaravarthy Throws His Name In The Hat
As if to tell the selectors that he can’t be ruled out already, Tamil Nadu spinner Varun Chakaravarthy picked up a brilliant five-wicket haul against Rajasthan in the second Preliminary quarter-final of the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. His wickets included three of the top-four batters. Will you have him in your team?
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Can Their Be Any Wildcard Entries?
India’s Champions Trophy squads are popular for some out-of-the-box calls. Can there be some this year? India needs another all-rounder, someone to replace Shardul Thakur from the 2023 World Cup squad, so maybe Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana can have a chance.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Aakash Chopra Picks His Squad
Aakash Chopra has made his prediction for India’s squad for the 2024-25 Champions Trophy. The biggest omissions from it are of Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson.
Aakash Chopra’s squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: If Not Jadeja, Who Can Be India's Spinners?
With Ravindra Jadeja’s participation in doubt, India would have to explore their reserves to find solutions. Axar Patel, who did brilliantly in the last T20 World Cup, would probably be the front runner thanks to his similar bowling skills and more youthful batting ability.
Pace all-rounders are always useful in ODIs but given India’s matches will be played on the slow tracks of the UAE, a couple of spin options could be crucial. Kuldeep Yadav would’ve been a sure-shot starter but his fitness is uncertain. Maybe Ravi Bishnoi gets a shout? After all, he was until recently being seen as Yuzvendra Chahal’s best replacement.
Don’t rule out Varun Chakravarthy either. He has shown how good he can be with his recent T20I performances!
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: Will Ravindra Jadeja Get The Axe?
Ravindra Jadeja rose to stardom in the 2013 Champions Trophy. But, 12 years on, his place in the team for the 2025 edition is doubtful at best.
Media reports today have quoted sources in the BCCI to suggest that there’s a big chance Gautam Gambhir will move on from the all-rounder this year, starting with the Champions Trophy squad announcement.
Jadeja’s ODI returns haven’t been great in recent years. In 2023 (India played just three ODIs in 2024 and Jadeja wasn’t a part of them), he had an average of 30.90 with a strike rate of 75 with the bat, which is not good enough for a lower-order finisher.
More than his bowling — which could be handy on UAE’s tracks — his batting ability is likely to become a thorn in his way.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Live: India's Squad When The Tournament Was Last Held in 2017
Only 9 members of India’s 2017 Champions Trophy squad are active international cricketers. Here’s the Virat Kohli-led team that finished runners-up when the tournament was last held.
Virat Kohli (captain), MS Dhoni (wk), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kedar Jadhav, Ajinkya Rahane, Dinesh Karthik, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy Squad Announcement Live: What About Shami?
Ravi Shastri recently pointed out the lack of clarity over Mohammed Shami’s fitness status. The pacer has been a regular feature in domestic cricket for Bengal ever since making his competitive comeback last year, but the Indian team management didn’t consider him fit enough for the Australia tour. He’s currently taking part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 34-year-old is part of Bengal’s playing XI for their pre-quarterfinal against Haryana being played in Vadodara today. The selectors will keep a tab on the matches and on Shami’s performance.
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkChampions Trophy India Squad Announcement Live: Should India Risk Bumrah?
As per reports, ICC has set January 12 as the deadline for the eight teams to confirm their provisional squads. The teams though are allowed to make changes till February 13. So, the Indian team management has just over a month to decide on injured Jasprit Bumrah’s inclusion. It all depends on whether the 31-year-old pacer has Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 injury. The big question though is: Even if the injury isn’t severe, should Bumrah be allowed ample time to get back to full fitness even if it means he misses the Champions Trophy given his importance in India’s pace attack?
WhatsAppfacebookTwittertelegramcopy linkIndia Champions Trophy Squad Live: Will Bumrah Be Available?
India will be praying that Jasprit Bumrah suffered nothing more than back spasms during the fifth and final Test of their Australia tour that concluded last week. The extent of his injury will be known in the coming few days. Bumrah was India’s top performer of the Australia tour and the team will be hopeful the pace spearhead hasn’t done much damage to his back.
