Silver is the New Gold: RAH Jewels and Rezon Reimagine Contemporary Luxury

In a landmark collaboration, RAH Jewels by Rimple Narula and Rezon by Kalyani Saha Chawla have unveiled a two-day exhibition titled “Silver is the New Gold.” The showcase reframes silver from being seen as a supporting act to gold, positioning it as the very essence of modern luxury. The curation blends jewellery, silverware, and home décor, inviting audiences to see silver not merely as metal, but as a medium of individuality, heritage, and contemporary lifestyle.

At the exhibition, RAH Jewels presents finely crafted silver jewellery adorned with emeralds and precious stones, while Rezon brings forward its signature silverware and design-led lifestyle objects. Together, they highlight silver’s versatility: inhabiting the body as adornment, and the home as an object of refinement.

Rimple Narula: Silver as Intelligent Luxury

For Rimple Narula, Creative Director of RAH Jewels, silver carries a deeply personal resonance. “My earliest memories of jewellery come from my Iranian grandmother, who always wore the most striking pieces with such ease. That love for ornamentation stayed with me, and over the years—with Harpreet and through our travels collecting antiques and textiles—I became increasingly fascinated with antique silver,” she shares.

Her work on Heeramandi further sharpened this vision. “While working on Heeramandi, where jewellery played such an integral role in the narrative, the spark truly crystallised. I realised silver had the ability to be both artistic and intelligent—luxury that is beautiful yet stress-free, especially when travelling. That thought became the foundation for RAH Jewels: to bring fine silver centre stage as a protagonist of modern luxury.”

Narula’s design language bridges the past and present seamlessly. “Our design language has always been layered—deeply rooted in history yet open to global influences. For this collection, I spent the last two years seeking out some of the most talented craftsmen across India, many of whom carry forward centuries-old skills in jaali, polki, enamel and repoussé work. These traditional techniques are then reimagined in forms that feel contemporary and versatile. The motifs echo Mughal artistry, folk craft, and even architectural details we’ve absorbed during our travels, but the result is jewellery that feels timeless and relevant today. It’s heritage made wearable, where each piece becomes both a story and a statement.”

For her, jewellery transcends weight or carat value. “For me, jewellery has never been about its weight or carats—it has always been about the story it carries and the way it empowers the wearer. More and more women today want pieces that reflect their individuality, rather than just status. That’s where I see the idea of intelligent luxury taking root—pieces that are exquisitely crafted, culturally rich, yet accessible and effortless to wear, even when travelling. The future of adornment in India will be shaped by this shift: jewellery as an extension of one’s identity, an art form that resonates personally and stands the test of time.”

Kalyani Saha Chawla: Silverware as Lifestyle and Legacy

For Kalyani Saha Chawla, Founder of Rezon, silver is both auspicious and timeless. “Silver is an auspicious metal, especially for us Indians—a metal of celebration and a traditional way of bringing goodwill and auspiciousness into our lives for every special occasion. It is also one of the most precious investments we can make today, making it an important gifting choice that is passed down generations.”

Her design philosophy with Rezon is firmly rooted in storytelling. “At Rezon, storytelling is deeply personal and closely tied to the needs of the home for all special occasions. Our collection is varied in design aesthetics—pieces that draw you in visually, while also carrying great pride in quality, workmanship, and the preservation of a centuries-old craft, as everything is completely handmade in-house by skilled artisans.”

When asked about silverware’s functional connotations, Chawla is clear: “Function and utility are important to me, and I value products that serve multiple purposes, making them highly practical. At the same time, aesthetics play an equally significant role, shaped by my diverse design sensibilities developed over the past eight years. This balance allows me to create pieces that are not only useful but also objects of desire, offering something for everyone.”

She further reflects on silver’s role in India’s gifting culture. “Silver is deeply rooted in our culture as a symbol of auspiciousness and celebration. As one of the most precious investments, it holds enduring value and significance as a gift, making it ideal for weddings, festivities, and personal milestones. Each piece carries both emotional and generational worth, ensuring it is cherished as part luxury, part lifestyle, and part legacy.”

Silver as Today’s Pinnacle of Refinement

The “Silver is the New Gold” exhibition underscores silver’s ability to be wearable, collectible, and deeply personal. RAH Jewels offers pieces starting at INR 25,000, while Rezon’s silverware begins at INR 5,500, making them both accessible and aspirational. The showcase positions silver not as an alternative to gold, but as a new emblem of intelligent luxury—modern, versatile, and enduring.

By merging Rimple Narula’s vision of jewellery as living art and Kalyani Saha Chawla’s philosophy of design-led silverware, the collaboration reframes adornment and lifestyle as a holistic experience. Silver, in their hands, becomes more than metal: it is memory, identity, and legacy, designed to be treasured across generations.
