During this time, devotees offer bhog, or sacred food, to seek the blessings of the goddess. Shailaputri

The first day of Navratri honours Goddess Shailputri, the mountain-born daughter of Lord Himalaya, born after Sati’s self-immolation. In Sanskri,t “Shailputri,” literally means “daughter of the mountain.” Devotees offer Desi cow Ghee to seek blessings from Maa Shailputri.

Brahmacharini

The second day is devoted to Goddess Brahmacharini, the unmarried form of Goddess Parvati, known for her perseverance and penance. Offering sugar as Prasad symbolises the virtues of this form, embodying the spirit of dedication and commitment.

Chandraghanta

On the third day, Goddess Chandraghanta, the married form of Goddess Parvati, is worshipped. Known for her courage and protection, she is adorned with a crescent moon on her forehead. Offering Kheer to her is said to invite her blessings for courage and protection from evil.

Kushmanda

The fourth day celebrates Goddess Kushmanda, whose radiant form is said to reside within the Sun. Offering Malpua as Prasad to this goddess dispels darkness from the lives of her devotees, granting them wealth and health.

Skandamata

Goddess Skandamata, the mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya), is worshipped on the fifth day, or Panchami. Offering bananas as Prasad seeks her blessings, which are believed to bring prosperity and power to her devotees.

Katyayani

On Shashti, the sixth day, honey is offered to Katyayani to channel anger positively.

Kalaratri And Mahagauri

The seventh day sees jaggery for Kalaratri, while the eighth day brings coconut for Mahagauri to cleanse sins.

Siddhidatri

On the ninth day, sesame seeds are offered to Siddhidatri for spiritual benefits.

These nine bhogs for nine avatars of goddess Durga, given on nine consecutive days, connect devotees with divine energy, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and spiritual growth, each reflecting the unique qualities of the avatars.
