Maa Siddhidatri is revered as the Goddess who grants spiritual powers known as siddhis to her devotees. The Goddess is depicted carrying a lotus in one hand and a conch in another, while a mace and a chakra rest gracefully in her remaining hands, symbolising power, purity, and divine energy.

As per the Drik Panchang, at the dawn of creation, Lord Rudra prayed to Adi-Parashakti, the eternal cosmic force. Though without form, the Goddess chose to manifest as Siddhidatri, emerging from the left half of Lord Shiva.

Navratri Day 9: Colour

Pink is the colour for the day 9 of Navratri. It is linked with compassion, kindness and togetherness. This vibrant colour not only makes you appear more welcoming but also lends a graceful charm to your overall presence.

Navratri Day 9: Maa Siddhidatri Vrat Katha

The Markandeya Purana describes Goddess Siddhidatri as the bestower of eight extraordinary powers, known as the Siddhis: Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva and Vashitva. Legends say that Lord Shiva, through intense devotion to her, received these mystical abilities, and by her blessing, he took the unique form of Ardhanarishvara, where half of his being became that of the Goddess herself.

This form is regarded as the most potent manifestation among the nine aspects of Goddess Durga. As per the story, in the battle against Mahishasura’s tyranny, a brilliant aura emerged from the gods and goddesses. From this divine radiation arose the supreme force that is Goddess Siddhidatri.

Navratri Day 9: Bhog

On the ninth day of Navratri, devotees traditionally present Maa Siddhidatri with a simple offering of halwa, poori, and gram. Further, sesame seeds are also offered to the Goddess on this day.

As per the Drik Panchang, “Offer the Prasad of Sesame Seeds to Devi Siddhidatri during Navratri to achieve all sorts of Siddhis.”
