Navratri 2025 Day 5 Goddess, Colour: Navratri is a nine-day festival that celebrates the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Each day has its own rituals, colours, and prayers dedicated to a specific form of the Goddess. Devotees observe fasts, perform pujas, and seek blessings for health, wealth, and happiness.

On the fifth day of Navratri, devotees will worship Goddess Skandamata, the mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya). She is the fifth form of Goddess Durga and is often shown seated on a lion, holding lotus flowers in her hands, and carrying young Lord Skanda in her lap.

She is regarded as a symbol of love, wisdom, and protection, and worshipping her is said to bring peace, prosperity, and liberation from difficulties. Because she is also depicted sitting on a lotus, she is known as Padmasana.

Who is Goddess Skandamata? And Vrat Katha

Goddess Skandamata represents Goddess Parvati in her role as the mother of Lord Skanda, also called Kartikeya, the brother of Lord Ganesha. She is shown with four hands, two holding lotus flowers, one carrying Lord Skanda, and one hand in Abhaya Mudra, symbolising protection. With her fair complexion and serene presence, she radiates purity and compassion.

Devotees believe that by worshipping Goddess Skandamata, they also receive the blessings of Lord Skanda. This dual blessing is unique to her form among the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. Astrologically, she governs the planet Mercury (Budha), and seeking her blessings is believed to improve communication skills, intellect, and decision-making.

Navratri 2025 Day 5: Colour

The colour for the fifth day of Navratri is green. Green represents growth, fertility, peace, and new beginnings. Devotees wear this colour on the day of Skandamata’s puja, believing it helps attract harmony and positivity into their lives.

Navratri 2025 Day 5: Goddess Skandamata Bhog

On Day 5, devotees offer bananas as bhog to Goddess Skandamata. The fruit is considered sacred and is believed to please the Goddess, who then blesses her devotees with strength, prosperity, and wisdom.

Worshippers pray to her not only for personal well-being but also for protection and success for their families.
