Mouni Roy brought ethereal elegance to the festive season as she celebrated Onam in a classic Kerala kasavu saree in Bangalore. Her look was a reminder of why traditional wear never goes out of style. Mouni’s traditional look echoed the richness of South Indian heritage and the spirit of the harvest festival.

The actor donned the quintessential ivory saree with a lustrous golden border, known as the kasavu saree, exuding understated luxury and cultural grace. The simplicity of the weave, paired with the finesse of her styling, made this look both timeless and modern. Draped in the traditional style, the saree accentuated her silhouette effortlessly, while the golden pallu added a regal finish.

Mouni Roy paired the saree with a muted grey sleeveless blouse, a contemporary twist that balanced the traditional fabric beautifully. Her accessories, however, stayed true to tradition. She wore intricate temple-style gold jhumkas, a staple during Onam festivities, and delicate bangles that added just the right amount of sparkle. Her hair was neatly tied back in a sleek bun, keeping the focus on her face and earrings.

Her makeup was elegant and well-balanced: a sharp winged eyeliner, subtle highlighter, and a classic pink lip completed her festive glam. The choice of a soft, natural palette allowed the rich textures and colours of her attire to shine.

In the pictures shared in the carousel, Mouni was seen devouring an Onam Sadhya and also posing with her mother-in-law. The actor is married to Dubai-based Malayali businessman Suraj Nambiar, and these pictures showed her embracing his Malayali heritage.

Kasavu Saree And Onam

The kasavu saree is more than just a garment. It is a cultural emblem worn during Onam, the annual harvest festival of Kerala. Traditionally made from handwoven cotton with a gold zari border, the saree symbolises purity, prosperity, and celebration. It is often paired with gold jewellery and jasmine flowers, forming an integral part of Onam’s sartorial charm. Worn by women across Kerala, the kasavu saree reflects the harmony and joy of the festival.

Mouni’s Onam look was a graceful tribute to this tradition. Her styling paid homage to heritage while subtly infusing it with a modern sensibility – an inspiring reminder that elegance lies in simplicity and cultural roots.
