Singapore’s Changi Airport has added yet another attraction to its long list of wonders. Already known for its Butterfly Garden and the iconic Jewel Rain Vortex, the airport is now home to the world’s first outdoor Bamboo Garden. The addition further proves why Changi is considered much more than just an airport; it is a destination in itself that draws visitors from all over the world.

Called the Bamboo Grove, the new garden is open 24 hours a day and, best of all, it is free. Unlike most airport attractions, it is accessible to everyone, not just passengers. Whether you are flying out, waiting for someone, or simply looking for a peaceful outing, you can walk into this lush green escape.

Spread across more than 500 square metres, Bamboo Grove is designed as a calm and quiet retreat. Inspired by the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Kyoto, it features winding stone pathways, clusters of tall bamboo swaying with the wind, and small corners where visitors can pause and relax. It is a rare opportunity to slow down and enjoy nature inside one of the busiest airports in the world.

The garden is not just about aesthetics; it also brings together a fascinating collection of bamboo species rarely found in one place. From sky-high Giant Bamboo to the striking Black Bamboo with its dark stems, and the distinctive Buddha Bamboo with rounded segments, each species adds to the charm. Visitors can also spot Monastery Bamboo, often planted near temples in Thailand, and the striking Golden Bamboo with yellow-green striped stalks that brighten the landscape.

Unlike other themed gardens at the Changi Airport, such as the Butterfly Garden or Sunflower Garden, Bamboo Grove is located outside the secure transit area. This makes it easily accessible to the general public via the Changi Airport Connector.

Reaching the garden is simple. It is just a short 200-metre walk from Terminal 2, near the Hub & Spoke Café. Visitors can arrive on foot, by bicycle, bus, MRT, or by car, with parking available nearby at Car Park 2A and the Hub & Spoke Car Park.

Changi Airport has long been admired for blending nature into its design, from its indoor forest to the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. Bamboo Grove has added yet another unique attraction that enhances its reputation.

Whether you are a transit passenger, a local in search of a new spot, or a traveller exploring Singapore, this serene bamboo forest offers a refreshing break that is hard to find in an airport setting.
