Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh bring festive cheer in traditional ensembles.

Power couple Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh brought timeless elegance to their festive look in traditional ensembles inspired by South India.

Calling it ‘A Day Full of Happiness’ on her Instagram post, Genelia looked surreal in a traditional handwoven gold kanjeevaram saree adorned with an embroidered zardozi border designed by renowned fashion designer Mrunalini Rao.

Exuding grace and opulence, the saree complemented Genelia’s charming personality which was further enhanced with handcrafted choker, earrings and bangles featuring pearls, diamonds and emeralds designed by Kakun Fine Jewellery. Genelia’s hair was styled by Rachel B Singh, in an artistic bun with a pop of red detailing and her fresh, minimal makeup was done by Leiya Phinao Ningshen.

Riteish channelled the quintessential South Indian man in a custom kurta and veshti envisioned by luxury pret label Nafs. The overall festive look adorned by Riteish was effortlessly stylish and comfortable. Riteish took to Instagram to post the images and shared a heartfelt message for Genelia. He wrote: “I may not be a smart man, but I know what love is… and it’s in your smile, Jenny.”

Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh’s impeccable style was celebrated and envisioned by celebrity fashion stylists Pranay Jaitly and Shounak Amonkar of Who Wore What When. Capturing their love through Indian textiles, the photo shoot was done by Wfa founded by photographer Waseem F Ahmed, was nothing short of a fairytale.

Genelia and Riteish’s ensembles not only complemented each other’s style but also set the tone for the festive season. A perfect look for couples for Ganesh Chaturthi and Onam, the attire celebrates the spirit of festivity with elan.

Festive Pick: You can never go wrong with a classic kanjeevaram silk saree. You could stick with gold or could pick a brighter hue such as onion pink or yellow to add a pop of colour to your festive look. You could experiment with the blouse. While Genelia chose to keep it traditional, you could stitch a contemporary style blouse with straps or a corset style blouse. For men, while the veshti is super comfortable, it can be a hassle tying it if you are not used to it. There are veshtis that come with velcro detailing to ensure the drape stays on.
