Mulberry launches circularity-focused capsule with British Pasture Leather

Mulberry has launched a special collection of accessories in a link-up with British Pasture Leather to mark 55 years of the luxury bags brand and five years of its circularity-focused Made To Last Manifesto.

Mulberry

The launch is a limited edition collection of bags and pouches that link Mulberry’s Somerset factories with a pioneering leather supply chain – one in which all hides are sourced from 100% pasture-fed British cattle certified by Pasture For Life.

The leather for the collection comes from farms based in the south-west of England, “all guided by regenerative agricultural principles”. And the tanning happened in Bristol at one of the last remaining UK tanneries. It was completed at a family-run finisher in Northamptonshire.

Coming at the same time as Paul Smith has announced a special Made in Britain collection, it underlines not only the importance of circularity, but how local supply chains are again coming to the fore in the luxury sector.

Mulberry said the partnership represents “a shared commitment not just to the regeneration of nature but to the regeneration of a fragmented British leather industry, and the creation of a connected community – from the farmer to the Mulberry customer”.

Product-wise, there are four designs that celebrate both new and heritage styles: the Boston comes in an Antique Oak finish, while the classic Bayswater is available in Vintage Ebony. Completing the collection is the Darley Cosmetic Pouch and a Zipped Pouch.

The light-touch finishing on the vegetable-tanned leather used results in each piece “developing its own unique burnishing and marks that reflect its character and story”.

And with the ‘made to last’ concept to the fore, all products come with a complimentary lifetime manufacturing warranty, as well a care kit.

The collection launched on Tuesday 28 April at Mulberry’s Regent Street store and online at Mulberry.com with prices ranging from £495 up to £2,245.
