Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, backed by Madrid City Council in collaboration with Ifema Madrid, will hold its 84th edition from September 14 to 19. Dedicated to spring-summer collections, this edition will adopt a format that “reinforces its integration with the city and its commitment to new audiences, new spaces and new experiences,” according to the organisation.

After two editions packed with innovations, during which MBFWMadrid has expanded into new spaces and moved closer to the heart of the capital, the September edition will see the event enter the consolidation phase of its new chapter, built on the pillars of talent, industry, craftsmanship and internationalisation. The latter has been a key element of the last two editions, featuring guest designers such as Colombians Silvia Tcherassi and Johanna Ortiz, visits from buyers across different markets, and a partnership with Copenhagen Fashion Week.

On September 14, the event will open in “a unique space within the Ifema Madrid venue.” This setting, according to the organisation, will be aligned with the Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix, a beginning that “will connect fashion with one of the most important sporting events of the year, bolstering the event’s international profile,” it adds. From the following day, MBFWMadrid will “unfold” to open up to the city and “create a cultural itinerary that enlivens different spaces.”

Brands interested in participating in the next edition can submit their applications by May 22, MBFWMadrid reports. Aiming to establish itself as a multi-format platform supporting national talent, from 2025 it will be led by Asier Labarga as director and Valentina Suárez-Zuloaga as creative director. In its March edition, it chose venues such as the Palacio de Cibeles, the Palacio de Fernán Núñez, and the Círculo de Bellas Artes, in addition to the Ifema Madrid venue. Alongside shows in locations in the heart of the capital, an updated awards system and partnerships with premium brands and local authorities are among its most recent developments.
