Ram Temple Trust Meeting Begins; Champat Rai, Anil Mishra Resignations Likely To Be Accepted Today

Ram temple Trust Meeting News: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust meeting began on Sunday under the chairmanship of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das.

Trust Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri presented the agenda for the meeting and proposed that the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra be taken up for consideration. 

Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad joining the proceedings via video conference.

the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra are likely to be accepted today. The move is expected to help clear the stigma attached to them during the ongoing investigation. Sources also said that Champat Rai will not attend the Trust meeting.

As of now, both Champat Rai and Anil Mishra have remained away from the meeting proceedings.

Leaders Present at Meeting So Far

The following members and religious leaders have arrived for the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust meeting:

  • Krishna Mohan – Trust Member
  • Swami Govind Dev Giri – Treasurer
  • Dinendra Das
  • Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati
  • Paramanand Giri Maharaj
  • Mahant Nritya Gopal Das – Trust President
  • Swami Vishwa Prasanna Teerth Ji Maharaj (According to a police officer at the venue; his arrival has not been independently verified.)

Sanjay Prasad, who is an ex-officio member of the Ram Temple Trust, had earlier received the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) preliminary report into the alleged irregularities in temple donation collections. Sources indicated that the Trust is likely to deliberate on the findings of the preliminary SIT report during the meeting.

VHP: Will Accept Whatever Decision Trust Takes

Speaking to reporters, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) National Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain said the meeting’s agenda includes discussions on the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra.

“We will welcome whatever decision emerges from the meeting,” Jain said.

Referring to the SIT probe, he added that this was the first investigation in which the accused themselves had sought an SIT inquiry.

He also criticised political leaders making allegations over the issue, saying they should “look at themselves first” and accused them of making anti-Ram statements. He said the matter would ultimately reach the judiciary and expressed hope that anyone found guilty would be punished without delay.
