Politics: Tarique Rahman Invites PM Modi to Bangladesh Swearing-In Ceremony

In a major political development, Tarique Rahman has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh’s new government. Following the recent general elections in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has emerged victorious, and Rahman is set to take oath as the new Prime Minister. The swearing-in ceremony is reportedly scheduled for 17 February at the Bangabhaban, where President Mohammad Shahabuddin will administer the oath. Invitations have also been extended to several South Asian leaders. Speaking to the media, Rahman emphasized that Bangladesh’s foreign policy will prioritize the interests of the country and its people. He also addressed the issue of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, stating that her possible return would depend on legal procedures. The composition of the new cabinet, however, remains undisclosed.
