One of the most talked-about aspects of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is the return of the two original Avengers, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans. While Downey has taken on the new face of the main antagonist as Dr Doom, Evans is making his official return as Captain America, and fans cannot wait to see the actor back on the big screen in perhaps one of his most beloved roles. During one of his recent interviews, the actor opened up about returning to the MCU sets after so long, and how filming for ‘Doomsday’ took him right back to 2011 when they shot the first ‘Avengers’ film.

While talking about his return as Captain America in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, Chris Evans looked back on his journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how it all felt when he first joined the franchise. While talking to Entertainment Weekly about his grand return, Evans revealed it felt as if he was back on the 2011 set for ‘Avengers.’He added, “It was almost like going back to 2011 on the first Avengers, because at the beginning of that, you’re kind of the new kid on the block and you’re excited to even be there.”Talking more about how excited he would be on the set, Evans shared, “I would find myself during that movie watching. You’re in the scene, but then you’re just like, ‘Robert Downey Jr. is playing Tony Stark! F—, I have a line.’ And on this one, I felt that a little bit again, just watching you do this thing that I couldn’t wait to see.” Chris Evans last reprised his role in the 2019 film, ‘Avengers: Endgame’. He first appeared as Captain America in 2011, which was followed by his second feature, ‘Avengers’, which was released in 2012.

Robert Downey Jr talks about the difference between Tony Stark and Dr Doom

During the same interview, famed actor Downey, who portrayed Tony Stark, or Iron Man, in the MCU for years, weighed in on his return in a different role. Comparing the two, the actor commented that, “There’s the science thing, and they’re considered pretty brilliant guys, but Tony had the trauma that turned him into a hero and Doom’s got the exact opposite, to where it takes the prowess of all of these folks to go up against him – and it was a joy to behold.”

While most of the plot for the upcoming MCU winter release stays under wraps, the first official trailer, available on YouTube, shows fans an exclusive glimpse of the upcoming film. The New Avengers reunite, along with Chris Evans as Captain America. Downey returns as the main antagonist, Dr Doom, along with a crossover from Fantastic Four. Letitia Wright will join the film as the Black Panther, along with Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Thor, and Winston Duke taking on his role as M’Baku. Simu Liu will also be seen in the upcoming film as Shang-Chi. The original legacy cast of ‘X-Men’ is also slated to cross over onto the ‘Doomsday’ universe.Ahead of the release of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, Tom Holland and Zendaya’s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is slated for worldwide release in just a few days.
