A fresh video of IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma, who is serving as election observer in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, has surfaced and added new fuel to the ongoing political controversy. In the clip, Sharma is seen sharply reprimanding election officials over alleged negligence and lack of proper monitoring in sensitive areas linked to TMC candidate Jahangir Khan. He questions officials about field responsibilities, voter security arrangements, and alleged lapses in enforcement. The controversy stems from earlier incidents where Sharma had visited areas linked to Jahangir Khan after reports of voter intimidation. During those visits, he reportedly issued strong warnings to local residents and political workers, asking them to refrain from any wrongdoing and assuring strict action against malpractice. He also questioned relatives of the TMC candidate during field inspection. Sharma’s tough on-ground approach, including visits to party offices and confrontation with officials over alleged laxity, has now become a major political flashpoint. While BJP has defended him as an efficient and strict officer ensuring fair elections, TMC has accused him of intimidation and bias. The situation has intensified political tensions in Bengal ahead of polling.
