During his visit to the sacred city of Kashi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people of Varanasi and inaugurated four new Vande Bharat trains, connecting Kashi to Khajuraho, Firozpur, Lucknow–Saharanpur, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru. With these additions, the total number of Vande Bharat trains operational across India has now crossed 160. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said that every new track, road, and airport symbolizes India’s growth, adding that infrastructure development directly fuels the nation’s progress and connectivity. He highlighted that Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat trains represent the new generation of Indian Railways fully designed, built, and operated by Indians, for Indians. These trains have become a symbol of pride, reflecting the nation’s self-reliance and engineering excellence. The Prime Minister also noted how even foreign travelers are astonished by India’s rapid transformation in the transport sector. PM Modi emphasized that these new routes not only improve mobility but also strengthen the country’s spiritual and economic fabric by linking major pilgrimage centers such as Kashi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. Over 11 crore devotees visited Kashi last year, and more than 6 crore have visited Ayodhya since the Ram Temple construction began, boosting Uttar Pradesh’s economy by thousands of crores. The Prime Minister concluded that Vande Bharat is not just a train, but a symbol of a “Viksit Bharat.”
