Patna news: Kidnap Bid Sparks Gunfight in Patna, SHO and ASI Injured During Police Operation

A dramatic late-night police operation unfolded in Bihar’s capital Patna after armed criminals allegedly kidnapped a young man and opened fire on police personnel who attempted to rescue him. The incident created panic in the area and triggered a high-intensity chase involving local residents and law enforcement agencies. According to preliminary information, around half a dozen armed miscreants forcibly abducted a youth and attempted to flee the scene. Local residents noticed the incident and tried to follow the accused, prompting the criminals to brandish weapons and allegedly fire shots to scare away pursuers. After receiving information about the suspected kidnapping, police teams rushed to the spot and launched an operation to intercept the accused. As officers closed in on the suspects, the criminals reportedly opened fire on the police team, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the encounter, Additional SHO Rahul Kumar sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was immediately shifted to AIIMS Patna for treatment. An ASI identified as Sanjay also suffered an injury when a bullet reportedly grazed his hand. Despite the attack, police personnel continued the operation and successfully rescued the abducted youth from the kidnappers. Officials said one of the accused was also injured during the exchange of fire. However, taking advantage of darkness and the chaotic situation, the remaining suspects managed to escape from the area. A large-scale search operation has been launched to track down the absconding criminals. Senior police officials have confirmed that multiple teams are conducting raids at suspected hideouts and examining evidence related to the case. The incident has raised concerns about law and order in the region, particularly due to the brazenness with which the accused allegedly carried out the kidnapping attempt and attacked police personnel. Authorities have assured that the accused will be identified and arrested soon, while security has been tightened in the area following the incident.
