NEET SCAM PROBE: CBI Questions Coaching Director in Mumbai Over Paper Leak Link

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the alleged NEET paper leak case, questioning the director of a major coaching institute in Mumbai as part of a widening investigation into a suspected examination fraud network. According to officials, the questioning lasted several hours, during which investigators examined possible links between coaching operations, alleged “guess papers,” and the actual NEET examination questions. Sources indicate that the coaching institute under scrutiny had been conducting seminars and student identification drives, allegedly targeting potential high-performing candidates. Investigators are also probing whether certain question patterns circulated under the label of “guess papers” closely matched actual examination content. The coaching institute has reportedly defended its activities, claiming the material was based on prediction models and past trends, not leaked examination papers. However, CBI officials are examining financial transactions, including suspicious payments linked to individuals associated with the case. Preliminary inputs suggest irregular monetary transfers and student payments made ahead of the examination, which are now being verified as part of the broader investigation. Authorities are also looking into digital evidence, including deleted communications on messaging platforms, which have been sent for forensic recovery. The probe has extended beyond Mumbai, with multiple locations under scanner as investigators attempt to map what officials describe as a “structured and coordinated network.” According to agency sources, the alleged operation involved compartmentalized roles to ensure secrecy, with limited information shared between individuals involved in different stages of the process. CBI teams are also reviewing CCTV footage and corroborating statements from students and associates linked to coaching seminars. Officials believe the network may have operated in a highly organized manner to avoid detection, raising concerns about systemic vulnerabilities in competitive examination security. While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities maintain that no final conclusion has been reached. The case has once again triggered national concern over examination integrity and the need for stronger safeguards in high-stakes entrance tests such as NEET.
