Monsoon Fury in September: Heavy Rains Trigger Flooding in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand | ABP NEWS

Despite being September, heavy monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc across Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. Torrential rains have caused widespread waterlogging, traffic disruption, and flooding in several low-lying areas. In Delhi, the Yamuna River has crossed the danger mark of 205.33 meters, inundating nearby regions like Yamuna Bazaar. Authorities have issued flood warnings and evacuated residents from vulnerable zones. Gurugram, the so-called “hi-tech city”, has been brought to a standstill. Waterlogging in major areas, including Infocity and Sector 10, has left roads submerged in knee-deep water. Vehicles are stranded, schools have been shut, and most offices have shifted to work-from-home mode. Locals complain of administrative failure and lack of monsoon preparedness. In Punjab, over 12 districts, including Pathankot and Firozpur, are under flood threat. PM Narendra Modi has assured Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann of central assistance. Haryana continues to face non-stop rainfall for three days, affecting districts like Hisar, Bhiwani, and Yamunanagar. Schools have been closed in many areas. Meanwhile, in Uttarakhand, all schools have been shut across 12 districts due to persistent rain and landslide threats. Authorities have issued advisories urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Relief and rescue operations are ongoing.
