Mahadangal: Teen Killed While Chasing Cattle Smugglers Sparks Outrage in Gorakhpur | ABP NEWS

A major outcry has erupted in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, following the brutal killing of 19-year-old Deepak Gupta. The young man was allegedly murdered by cattle smugglers during a late-night incident in a village near the city. According to reports, smugglers arrived in two vehicles and attempted to steal cattle by untying them and loading them into their vehicles. When villagers discovered the theft, chaos ensued. Deepak Gupta chased one of the fleeing vehicles. The smugglers allegedly abducted him, drove him around for nearly an hour, and then shot him in the mouth. His body was later dumped approximately 4 km from the village. Enraged villagers managed to capture one smuggler and severely beat him. One of the smugglers’ vehicles was set on fire, and violent protests erupted, including stone-pelting at the police. In response, a large police force was deployed. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered strict action and directed top officials to visit the victim’s family. While one smuggler has been caught and is hospitalized, others remain at large. Political tensions have risen, with opposition parties accusing the government of failing to maintain law and order, and raising concerns over increasing cattle smuggling incidents.
