The student protest in Ranchi against alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations has entered its 12th day and has become a major youth movement in Jharkhand. Students have been protesting at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, demanding a CBI investigation, transparent recruitment processes, and action against those responsible for alleged exam irregularities. Student leader Devendra Mahato, who was on a hunger strike for three days, ended his fast after a video call with activist Sonam Wangchuk. On Wangchuk’s advice, Mahato resumed taking water mixed with honey and salt while continuing the protest. Wangchuk also expressed support for the movement and promised to stand with the students. The protesters have announced a march towards the Jharkhand Assembly on August 10, with participation expected from students across different regions. ABVP has extended support, while Left student groups were already involved. Meanwhile, Abhijeet Deepke and the Cockroach Janata Party have announced support and plans to discuss future organizational strategies during a two-day conclave.
