Jharkhand Talks: Government and Students Likely to Hold Key Meeting Today

The ongoing student protest in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations has entered its 13th day, with signs of a breakthrough in talks between the protesters and the Jharkhand government. According to sources, an important meeting between government representatives and student leaders is likely to take place at the State Guest House. The government has constituted a five-member committee comprising four cabinet ministers and a senior IAS officer to hold direct discussions with the students. The move comes as the government attempts to resolve the issue before the proposed Assembly gherao scheduled for August 10. Student leaders have continued to stress that their movement remains peaceful and disciplined while demanding justice and reforms. They have also emphasized transparency in the dialogue process. Meanwhile, the state government has reiterated that the case concerns alleged illegal appointments through unfair means rather than a paper leak. Officials have assured strict action against all those found involved in the recruitment irregularities and stated that genuine candidates should receive justice, while urging all stakeholders to support an early resolution of the issue.
