Rajya Sabha: Kiren Rijiju Defends Home Minister Amid Opposition Protest in Rajya Sabha

The political deadlock in Parliament continued as Opposition members repeatedly demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah address the House regarding issues they had raised. Responding to the protests in the Rajya Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju rejected the Opposition’s demand, stating that it is the government’s prerogative to decide which minister responds during parliamentary proceedings. He also objected to remarks made by the Leader of the Opposition, saying they misrepresented parliamentary procedures and disrespected the Chair. The minister defended the government’s handling of House business and criticized what he described as undisciplined behaviour by Opposition parties. The exchange reflected the continuing confrontation between the government and the Opposition, contributing to repeated disruptions and delays in the smooth functioning of Parliament.
