The BJP’s major victory in West Bengal has drawn strong attention from international media. Publications like The Guardian called it a historic win, while The New York Times described it as the breaking of a strong regional political stronghold. The Washington Post highlighted it as a major political upset, and BBC News noted a significant shift in voter behaviour. Al Jazeera Media Network termed it the end of regional dominance, while The Wall Street Journal called it Prime Minister Modi’s biggest win in eastern India. In West Bengal, preparations are underway for a new government swearing-in ceremony, expected around May 9. The victory is also being highlighted through the rise of several women BJP leaders who defeated strong TMC candidates. These include candidates from Hingalganj, Jaynagar, and Panihati, symbolizing grassroots and social change within the state’s political landscape.
