Farmers’ Yalgaar March in Maharashtra: Protests from Amravati to Nagpur over loan waiver and MSP hike

A major farmers’ protest has erupted once again in Maharashtra, where thousands of farmers have launched the “Yalgaar March” from Amravati to Nagpur demanding a complete loan waiver, compensation for crop losses caused by recent heavy rains, and a 20% increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The agitation intensified as farmers were stopped at the Nagpur border, prompting authorities to increase security around the Chief Minister’s residence. The highways connecting Nagpur to Hyderabad, Jabalpur, and Raipur have been severely affected, with long traffic jams reported at multiple locations. The movement has gained political traction as Prahar Janshakti Party leader Bacchu Kadu extended his support to the protesting farmers. With local body elections approaching in Maharashtra, including district, municipal, and corporation polls, the farmers’ agitation is being seen as a significant challenge for the ruling government, potentially influencing the upcoming political landscape.
