Election Update: BJP Leads Bengal 115–103, Vijay Ahead in TN as Assam Crosses Majority Mark

Early counting trends across major Indian states indicate a rapidly evolving political landscape, with significant leads emerging for the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal and strong regional performances elsewhere. In Bengal, BJP has surged ahead to around 115 seats, while the All India Trinamool Congress has slipped to approximately 103 seats, marking a widening gap in early trends. The competition, however, remains fluid as counting continues across multiple rounds. Key regions like North Bengal and Darjeeling are showing strong BJP dominance, while TMC continues to hold ground in parts of South Bengal, including Kolkata and surrounding districts. Analysts note that early postal ballot trends may still shift once EVM counting intensifies. In Tamil Nadu, actor-politician Vijay is performing strongly, leading from both Ambur and Tiruchirappalli constituencies, strengthening his position as a key emerging political figure in the state’s evolving landscape. In Assam, the BJP-led alliance has crossed the majority mark in early trends, indicating a strong position in the state. Meanwhile, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi is leading in Jorhat, where he is contesting to consolidate his party’s presence. In Kerala, the United Democratic Front (UDF) has also shown strong numbers in early counting, reflecting a competitive multi-state political environment. Regions like Hooghly and Jhargram in West Bengal have delivered surprise trends, with BJP making significant gains compared to previous elections. Political observers suggest that opposition vote fragmentation and consolidation of support around BJP may be influencing the current numbers. As counting progresses past the first hour, the situation remains dynamic, with potential for further shifts. The coming rounds of EVM counting will be crucial in determining whether these early leads translate into final outcomes.
