Breaking: Puri Flooded, Chhattisgarh Car Swept Away, UP Child Missing in Open Drain Tragedy

Heavy monsoon rains have triggered a series of alarming incidents across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh, leaving residents battling waterlogging, flash floods, and tragic accidents. From submerged streets in Puri to rescue operations in flooded rivers and drains, the impact of relentless rainfall has created serious challenges for authorities. In Odisha’s holy city of Puri, continuous heavy rain has transformed several areas into waterlogged zones. Streets near Balagandi and other localities resemble rivers, with vehicles struggling through deep water and pedestrians facing difficulties while moving through flooded roads. Water has also entered markets, shops, and surrounding areas, affecting daily life and causing concern among residents and visitors. A major tragedy unfolded in Chhattisgarh’s Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district, where a car carrying former village sarpanch Devnarayan Patel and his wife Savita Patel was swept away by a strong current near Madhavpali bridge. The vehicle could not withstand the force of the overflowing water and disappeared within seconds. Rescue teams, divers, police personnel, and local villagers are conducting searches along the riverbanks, but the couple remains missing. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur, an eight-year-old child fell into an open manhole during heavy rainfall and disappeared into a fast-flowing drain. The child was reportedly playing with other children near the drainage area when he slipped into the uncovered manhole left open after cleaning work. Police, divers, and municipal teams are carrying out a search operation, but rising water levels and strong currents are making rescue efforts extremely difficult.
