Meghan Markle faces backlash after her ‘MasterChef Australia’ stint: ‘She was stepping into a character for the show’

The Duchess of Sussex has been under public scrutiny ever since she appeared on the recent episode of ‘MasterChef Australia.’ Recent online reports stated that Meghan Markle attempted to be ‘performative’ for the show. Markle joined the contestants for a challenge where they had to create a dish “fit for a duchess”. She was also in charge of choosing the ingredients for the challenge.

RadarOnline recently reported that Markle’s latest appearance on an episode of ‘MasterChef Australia’ is being called performative, with many stating that the ‘Suits’ actress was attempting to play a character rather than simply being a guest.A statement from the report shared, “There was a sense she was trying to embody the role of a culinary authority rather than simply a guest.” It also shared that, “Some of the gestures and presentation came across as performative – like she was stepping into a character for the show. It felt carefully constructed, as though she was balancing being Meghan the Duchess and Meghan the lifestyle figure, which did not always sit naturally.”Markle filmed the episode in April when she visited Australia as part of her travel schedule.

About Meghan Markle’s appearance on the show

The actress joined the show as one of the latest guests invited for the food challenges. She challenged the contestants to cook something from her while making one of the ingredients of her choosing the hero of the dish. She chose Australian honey, macadamia nuts, celeriac, citrus fruits, and edible flowers for the contestants, and even talked about her relationship with food. During the show, she also told all the contestants to “remember to have fun, to keep a sense of humour about it and to cook from the heart.”Markle detailed her home life, revealing that the family is far more relaxed when cooking at home. She added that they usually prefer grilled meats, fish, and citrus flavours, and that her son Archie and her daughter Lilibet are not picky eaters since they actually enjoy having Brussels sprouts. Markle also opted to keep hr style for the contest simple, and wore a pair of heels along with a plain black shirt and skirt. She also opted to keep her hair down in their natural waves.Prince Harry was also in Australia at the time; however, he made the time to call Markle during the show. She explained to the judges and contestants that “He’s in Canberra right now with the veterans.” During his surprise call, Markle explained what was happening during the show and described the food to him as well. She told him on the call, “I wish you could try this. These dishes are fantastic. It’s really delicious, and there’s a hot sauce that, well, you know me, it is so good. I think it might be too much for you. It’s spicy.”Meghan Markle also has her own cooking and lifestyle show called ‘Love, Meghan’.
