Breaking: NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled; Fresh Exam Soon, Fees to Be Refunded Nationwide

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026, following reports of paper leak allegations and preliminary findings shared by investigating agencies. The decision comes after a detailed review in coordination with law enforcement bodies and central authorities, aiming to maintain transparency and credibility in the examination system. Millions of medical aspirants across the country have been affected by this sudden announcement, which has once again placed the future of candidates in uncertainty. Authorities have stated that a fresh examination will be conducted on revised dates to be announced soon. The move has triggered widespread reactions from students, parents, and education stakeholders, raising concerns about exam security and institutional accountability in high-stakes competitive examinations.
Following the cancellation announcement, student organizations and opposition groups staged protests in several states, demanding greater transparency from the National Testing Agency and accountability from the education ministry. Demonstrations were reported outside administrative offices and examination bodies, with slogans highlighting concerns over repeated examination irregularities. Student activists argued that repeated disruptions in major entrance examinations not only affect academic schedules but also impose financial and emotional stress on aspirants and their families. Many candidates expressed frustration over the need to re-prepare for a highly competitive exam after months of rigorous study. Education experts have emphasized the need for stronger examination security systems, digital safeguards, and strict action against those responsible for malpractice. Meanwhile, authorities have assured that candidates will not be required to pay registration fees again and that previously paid fees will be refunded. The examination centres are expected to remain unchanged in the upcoming re-conducted test. Officials have promised strict monitoring of the re-examination process and assured candidates that fairness, transparency, and credibility will be the top priorities moving forward across the country soon today.
