Jammu & Kashmir experienced heavy snowfall across multiple districts, marking the onset of winter in the region. Sonmarg in Gandarbal and Sindhan Top in Anantnag were covered in a thick white blanket, creating a picturesque yet challenging scenario for locals and travelers. The sudden snowfall disrupted vehicular movement, leading authorities to temporarily close highways connecting key areas. Roads became slippery, and visibility dropped significantly, prompting officials to advise drivers to exercise caution, especially in high-altitude and hilly regions.Meteorological reports indicate that the snow and rainfall are likely to continue across Kashmir and Ladakh until tomorrow, affecting normal life and traffic. Key mountain passes such as Zojila and Shinkula have been closed due to safety concerns. While the snowfall has added beauty to the landscape, it has also posed challenges for transportation and daily activities. Authorities have assured residents that safety measures are in place and the situation will gradually improve from October 8 onwards. Tourists and local commuters are urged to stay updated with weather advisories to avoid accidents in the snow-covered regions.
