Tensions gripped the region as Cyclonic storm Ditwa stuck the Sri Lankan coast, unleashing widespread destruction. The powerful storm claimed the lives of more than 80 people, while around 40 individuals remain missing, according to official reports. The cyclone has severely impacted the lives of nearly 1.5 million people, and over 14,000residents have taken shelter to emergency relief camps. Massive damage has been reported to homes, shops and buildings, leaving thousands displaced and struggling for essential resources. Indian Prime Minister Modi posted on X, expressing condolences to the families of who lost their loved ones and reaffirming India’s support to Sri Lanka during this tragic crisis . He also announced the launch of Operation Sagar Bandhu to extend emergency humanitarian assistance to the cyclone-affected regions. Under this operation, INS Vikrant and INS Udaygiri have reached the Colombo Port to provide relief supploes, medical aid, and support resuce operations in the neighbouring country Sri Lanka.
