Bihar Election: Bihar Votes Amid High-Stakes Battle Between Political Heavyweights in Mokama

Patna, Bihar As polling commenced across 121 constituencies in Bihar today, all eyes are on Mokama, where a fierce electoral battle unfolds between two political heavyweights. The constituency, long known for its high-voltage contests, witnesses Anant Singh of the Janata Dal (United) locked in a symbolic fight despite being incarcerated, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) fields Veena Devi, wife of former MP Suraj Bhan Singh. The region remains tense following the Dularchand Yadav murder case, which has heightened political and public sensitivity. Over 342 polling booths have been established in Mokama with strict security arrangements to ensure smooth voting. Voters, many emphasizing development, education, and healthcare, have turned out in steady numbers despite early morning queues. Across Patna’s 14 constituencies, the mood remains divided. In the 2020 assembly elections, the NDA secured five seats while the Mahagathbandhan clinched nine, indicating a closely contested political landscape once again. Ground reports suggest enthusiasm among voters eager to shape Bihar’s future, focusing on development and stability as key priorities. With results expected soon, Bihar’s political fate hangs in balance as voters determine the next five years of governance.
