Ukraine war: Kyiv strikes Russia’s Samara region after Moscow’s overnight attack; 4 killed

At least 4 people died in Russia’s southwestern Samara region after a Ukrainian drone attack on Saturday, the local Governor announced on Saturday. Kyiv said Ukraine had been targeted with hundreds of Russian drones overnight. “It is with deep sorrow that I report that four people were killed in an enemy drone attack last night,” Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev stated on social media, adding that one person was injured, AFP reported.Earlier on Saturday, Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack targeting regions across Ukraine, lead to the death of at least three individuals and injuring dozens more, Ukrainian officials reported. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the attacks occurred in nine regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy and Kharkiv. “The enemy’s target was our infrastructure, residential areas and civilian enterprises,” Zelenskyy said, adding that a missile equipped with cluster munitions struck a multi-storey building in the city of Dnipro. “Each such strike is not a military necessity but a deliberate strategy by Russia to intimidate civilians and destroy our infrastructure,” he added in a statement on his official Telegram, according to AP. At least 26 people were injured in the attack in Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region, local Governor Serhii Lysak said. Several high-rise buildings and homes were damaged in the eastern city of Dnipro.
