'Shocking, surreal': Ferrari, Porsche, BMW of $2 million stolen on camera from Ontario showroom; 'Who gets up at 3 am to...'

Eight luxury vehicles worth about $2 million have been stolen from Lockwood Leasing showroom in Ontario and the entire heist has been caught on camera. Eight suspects with their faces covered made off with a Ferrari, two Porsches, three Mercedes-Benz, and two BMWs. Police said the front window of the showroom was broken at 3.35 am Sunday. The suspects then accessed a lockbox which had the keys to the high-end vehicles. There was no one at that time in the showroom. The suspects opened the lockbox with a crowbar and then drove away with the vehicles one by one. No arrests have been made but the Ferrari, one Mercedes and one BMW have been recovered somewhere in the Greater Toronto Area. “You hear about it. You see it. Then when it happens to you, it’s quite surreal. It was shocking,” manager Mark Kusiewicz told CP24. “You’re getting invaded by eight to 10 individuals. They have crowbars, they have bolt cutters…Thank God that it was at night and there was nobody here. Nobody was staying late or coming in early. But, who gets up at 3 o’clock in the morning to go steal cars?”Police said the theft appeared to be organized. The Ontario Provincial Police in 2025 busted a car theft gang which was also involved in shipping these vehicles to the UAE, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Egypt, and Lebanon. About 306 stolen vehicles were recovered under Project Chickadee which started in August 2023. 20 people, all from the Greater Toronto Area, were arrested in the major bust and they were collectively facing 134 charges. These include participating in a criminal organization, trafficking property and auto theft-related charges.Auto thefts spiked in Ontario in recent years. According to police data, in 2020, around 17,000 vehicles were stolen, and that total rose to more than 30,000 vehicles in 2023.
