Elon Musk, X chief, on Thursday took a dig at US President Donald Trump’s newly announced Board of Peace, drawing a similarity between “piece” or “peace.”He opened his session at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, with a joke, saying “I heard about the formation of the peace summit, and I was like, is that p-i-e-c-e?”
“You know, a little piece of Greenland, a little piece of Venezuela,” Musk said. “All we want is peace,” he added, prompting quieter laughter from attendees.Trump inaugurated the Board Thursday in Davos, where he officially signed the Board of Peace’s charter. The development is a component of the second phase of Trump’s 20-point plan, revealed in September and aimed at ending the war in Gaza that followed Hamas’ 2023 attack on Israel. The United Arab Emirates, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Morocco and Vietnam were among the first countries to publicly join the board.France was among the latest countries to decline his offer on Thursday, saying the board’s charter did not correspond with a United Nations resolution to resolve the war in Gaza, nor did it mention the Gaza mandate, and some of the charter’s elements were contrary to the UN charter, its Foreign Ministry spokesperson said. Slovenia’s Prime Minister Robert Golob also declined the invitation, saying that the board “dangerously interferes with the broader international order.”Moscow, meanwhile, was considering an invitation to join, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who proposed sending $1 billion US, about Rs 830 crore, to the board from Russian assets frozen in the US.
