‘Sorry I killed your daughter, hope you’re still a fan’: Shri Thanedar jibes at Trump over remarks on Renee Good’s death

Minneapolis Boils Over After Renee Good Shooting, ICE Clashes Ignite Nationwide Outrage

US Democratic Congressman Shri Thanedar criticised President Donald Trump over his remarks following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by a federal immigration agent earlier this month, accusing him of showing no remorse towards the family of the Minnesota mother. The Indian-origin leader said: “Sorry I killed your daughter, hope you’re still a fan of me though! Donald Trump is a deranged sociopath.”

Minneapolis Boils Over After Renee Good Shooting, ICE Clashes Ignite Nationwide Outrage

Thanedar reacted to comments made by Trump in which the US president referenced the political views of Good’s father while discussing the killing. Trump had been speaking about the shooting during remarks in which he defended Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and said that federal agents make “mistakes”. “ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They’re gonna make a mistake sometimes,” Trump said.

The MAGA chief added: “I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is — I hope he still is, but I don’t know — was a tremendous Trump fan. It’s terrible. It’s so sad. It just happens.”37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot dead by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis during an ICE operation. She was a US citizen, a mother of three, a prize-winning poet who had recently moved to the city.Good’s death triggered protests across the US, with demonstrators carrying signs reading “Justice for Renee”. Her mother, Donna Ganger, told the Minnesota Star Tribune that her daughter was “terrified” and described her as “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known”.White House officials and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good had been “impeding” ICE’s work and claimed she had “weaponised her vehicle” to harm agents present at the scene. Trump doubled down on this account on Truth Social, calling her a “professional agitator”.A fundraiser for Good’s children raised more than $1.4 million within a day. Meanwhile, another fundraiser for Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who shot Good, also crossed $1 million.
