Interim bail of former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi was extended by a local court in the May 9 cases and five other matters.On Tuesday, additional district and sessions judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard the pre-arrest bail applications with advocate Shamsa Kayani appearing on behalf of Khan and Bibi, reported PTI, citing Dawn.

The court adjourned the hearing till January 27, and the former PM was directed to appear for the next hearing in person or through video link.Meanwhile, additional district and sessions judge Chaudhry Amir Zia extended Bushra Bibi’s interim bail on her pre-arrest bail plea and also adjourned the hearing till January 27.Besides the May 9 cases linked to violence and vandalism by Imran Khan’s supporters following his arrest in Islamabad in 2023, several other cases have been filed against the former prime minister. These include charges of attempted murder and the alleged submission of fake receipts.A separate case over the alleged submission of fake receipts related to Toshakhana gifts has also been registered against Bushra Bibi. Another case was lodged against her at the Ramna police station under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act along with other relevant provisions.Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023, is facing multiple cases filed after his removal from power in April 2022. On Saturday, a court sentenced him and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to 17 years in prison each in the Toshakhana 2 corruption case.
