JD Vance grilled for joking about Joe Biden dying, saying former president could 'croak any minute': 'Has he seen his boss?'

US vice president JD Vance is drawing flak after making a joke about former President Joe Biden dying during an interview on Fox News. The moment went viral and triggered Democrats, who called the comment insensitive and irresponsible. The exchange happened during a conversation with host Sean Hannity, who asked Vance whether he feels prepared to take over the presidency if something were to happen to Donald Trump. The question comes at a time when Trump’s own health has been in a questionable state, especially after he underwent a sudden MRI scan last month. It was his second so-called yearly check-up in only six months.Vance brushed aside concerns about 79-year-old Trump’s health and instead took a swipe at 82-year-old Biden.

Election Results 2025

He insisted Trump is “very healthy” and then added, “But if I served under Joe Biden, I’d probably be worried every minute of every day that he was going to croak and that I’d have to become president. Like I’d never be able to sleep. I’d always have my cellphone as loud as possible.” He laughed, and Hannity joined in.Dems said the sly comment crossed a line. They said that joking about a political rival’s death is beneath the office of the vice president. Several Democratic commentators described the moment as “absolutely disgusting,” while others accused Vance of trying to distract from ongoing questions about Trump’s own physical condition. The questions regarding POTUS’s health have only intensified in recent weeks. Trump has been seen with bruising on his hand, which he covers with concealer, and with visibly swollen ankles. The White House has said the bruise is the result of frequent handshakes combined with aspirin use. Trump has also appeared tired, dizzy during daytime events, leading some Democrats to suggest he may be experiencing cognitive decline.
