ICE shooting in Minneapolis: Woman killed by officer, DHS says it was an act of self-defense

A woman was fatally shot in Minneapolis by an ICE agent in a major immigration crackdown in the city Wednesday. The Donald Trump administration confirmed the shooting and said the wooman was a rioter who in her vehicle attempted to run over law enforcement officers. “Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism,” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said. “An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers. The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries,” the statement read.

What is happening in Minneapolis?

The administration deployed hundreds of agents in the city Wednesday for the biggest crackdown ever since the welfare scam by Somalis in Minnesota hit the headlines. Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey said in a statement that he is aware of the shooting involving an ICE agent while demanding that ICE leave the city “immediately.” “The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said in a statement on social media regarding the shooting. “We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities.”Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who bowed out of the Governor election bid in the wake of the welfare scandal, said his office is working to “gather information on an ICE-related shooting this morning.”

Who is the victim of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis?

The administration has not revealed the name of the woman but branded her attempt to mow ICE agents down with her vehicle as domestic terrorism. The woman was not an immigrant but a US national with a US passport, reports claimed.
