A routine cab ride in Hyderabad has turned into a viral story after a passenger discovered her driver had walked away from a job at Amazon to work full-time as an Uber driver. The woman shared her experience online, describing how the conversation during the ride revealed a major career shift. The driver, she learned, had previously worked in the corporate sector but chose to leave it behind to follow what he described as genuine passion.According to the passenger, he no longer wanted a desk-based role and instead built his life around driving passengers every day.Speaking about his decision, he said, “Driving is my passion. Yes, I like to communicate with so many people. That is most important for me.” He added that meeting different passengers each day helped him understand different lives and gave him a sense of satisfaction.”I want to explore my Hyderabad. That is most important because I am from Hyderabad,” he added. The driver said he began working when Uber first launched operations in Hyderabad in 2014. Since then, he has remained on the platform and has completed more than 23,600 trips, placing him among the more experienced drivers in the city. Describing his routine, he said, “I have completed almost 23,600 trips. still, I am online. from morning to evening, I enjoy the trips.” He added that driving was not something he felt forced to do but something he genuinely looked forward to each day.For him, leaving a corporate job was not a loss of stability but a shift towards something he valued more, the chance to interact with people and stay connected to his city. The passenger who shared the story also suggested he consider content creation, saying his journey could motivate others who feel uncertain about leaving office jobs to follow different paths. The post quickly drew attention online, with users responding to the idea of stepping away from corporate careers in favour of work that feels more meaningful. One user said, “Sometimes choosing the best option is not as good as trying out new opportunities.”Another person wrote, “He knows where he can truly excel and reach his potential as well. Sometimes, other things we unintentionally belittle are the most rewarding ones.”A third comment read, “He definitely has made a ton of money in Amazon. Now it is easy for him to enjoy the rest of his life,” a user reacted. The story has also sparked conversations about how people define success, particularly in cities where corporate jobs are often seen as the safest long-term choice. In this case, the driver said his decision was guided less by status or income and more by daily satisfaction.
